न देवासुर गंधर्वैर्न यक्षोरगकिन्नरैः
Not by gods, demons, gandharvas, nor by yakshas, serpents, or kinnaras—
मानवैः पक्षिजातैश्च न मे मृत्युर्भवेदिति 5.1.66.१
Nor by humans or birds—may death come to me.
मारयिष्यति मां वीरः स मे मृत्युर्भविष्यति
That hero will kill me; he will become my death.
आगमं चैव लोकं स्वं स दैत्यो घोरशासनः
That fierce, law-giving demon will seize both my tradition and his own world.
तस्यैवाऽधिकृता लोके बभूवुर्विगतज्वराः
Those who were under his authority in the world became free from distress.
तस्माद्यूयं वनं यात महाकालं महेशितुः
Therefore, you all should go to the forest of Mahākāla, belonging to the great Lord.
संगमेश्वरस्य दक्षिणे कर्कराजोत्तरे तथा
At the southern side of Saṃgameśvara, and north of Karkarāja likewise,
नृसिंहाख्यं परं धाम तस्य तीर्थं प्रतिष्ठितम्
There is established the supreme abode called Nṛsiṃha, his sacred place.
कुरुत सत्वरं सर्वे पुनर्लोकानवाप्स्यथ
All of you, act quickly; you will regain the worlds again.
महाकालवनं प्राप्ता यत्र शिप्रा पयस्विनी
Having reached the forest of Mahākāla, where the river Śiprā flows with pure waters,
स्नानदानादिकं कृत्वा नृसिंहस्याऽर्चनं तथा
After performing bathing, giving, and other rites, and also worship of Nṛsiṃha,
नृसिंहस्य स्वरूपेण हतो दानवपुंगवः 5.1.66.
The foremost of demons was slain by Nṛsiṃha in his own form.
करेणैकप्रहारेण हिर ण्यकशिपुर्हतः
With a single blow of his hand, Hiraṇyakaśipu was killed.
तदारभ्य सुराः सर्वे मध्याह्नोह्नोपासनं सदा
From that time onward, all the gods always perform midday worship.
एवं तीर्थं परं व्यास अवंत्यां विद्यते भुवि
Thus, Vyāsa, the supreme sacred place exists on earth in Avanti.
ये कुर्वंति नराः पुण्यास्ते यांति परमां गतिम्
Those men who perform holy acts there attain the highest state.
कदाचिन्नृसिंहतिथिं प्राप्य चैव चतुर्दशीम्
Whenever one attains the Nṛsiṃha day, which is the fourteenth,
नृसिंहेश्वरदेवेशं पूजयेद्यः समाहितः
Whoever worships Nṛsiṃha, Lord of gods, with concentration,
ततोऽगस्त्येश्वरं देवं यः पश्येत्युसमाहितः
Then, whoever beholds the god Agastyeśvara with devotion,
यत्र सिद्धिं परां प्राप्तो हनुमान्पवनात्मजः
There, Hanuman, son of the wind, attained the highest accomplishment.
तिष्ठति परदैवज्ञः सर्वकामार्थसिद्धये
The one who knows other deities remains for the attainment of all desired aims.
मित्रावरुणपुत्रेण सिद्धिहेतोस्तपस्विना 5.1.66.
For the sake of accomplishment, austerity is performed by the son of Mitra and Varuṇa.
नरो नारीसमायुक्तः सावित्रीव्रतमाचरेत्
A man, accompanied by a woman, should undertake the Sāvitrī vow.
यस्मिंस्तीर्थे नरः स्नात्वा दत्त्वा दानं च सौभगम्
At whichever sacred place a man bathes and gives charity, he obtains good fortune.
सप्तधान्यसमोपेतं पंचरत्नपरिष्कृतम्
Endowed with seven kinds of grain and adorned with five gems.
सावित्रीं हाटकीं कृत्वा यथाशक्ति परंतप
Having made a golden Sāvitrī, according to his ability, O scorcher of foes.
लभते विपुलां लक्ष्मीं बहुभोगकरीं शुभाम्
He attains abundant prosperity, auspicious and bestowing many enjoyments.
सावित्रीव्रतकृन्नारी जायते पतिवल्लभा
A woman who performs the Sāvitrī vow becomes dear to her husband.
इति श्रीस्कांदे महापुराण एका शीतिसाहस्र्यां संहितायां पञ्चम आवन्त्यखण्डे अवन्तीक्षेत्रमाहात्म्ये नृसिंहतीर्थमहिमवर्णनंनाम षट्षष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, in the eighty-one-thousand section, in the fifth Avantya division, in the greatness of the Avantī region, the sixty-sixth chapter named 'The Description of the Glory of the Nṛsiṃha Sacred Place' ends.
शृणु व्यास परं तीर्थं भुवि विख्यातमुत्तमम्
Hear, Vyāsa, of the supreme sacred place, renowned and excellent upon earth.
