श्वेतद्वीपेति विख्याता मणिविक्रांतभूमिका
It is famed as Śvetadvīpa, land adorned with radiant jewels.
हंसकारंडकाकादि पिककोकिलसारसाः
Swans, cranes, crows, cuckoos, and sarasa birds dwell there.
निधिरेष महापद्मो नीलोत्पलसुगंधिना
This is the great lotus treasure, fragrant with blue lotuses.
यत्र सुसंस्कृता नार्यो विहरंति सुरांगनाः
There, beautifully adorned women, the celestial maidens, play.
यत्र स्नात्वा नरो याति वैकुंठं धाम शोभनम्
Where, after bathing, a man attains the splendid abode of Vaikuntha.
तत्र रमासरो नाम तीर्थं परमशोभनम्
There is the sacred place called Ramāsara, supremely beautiful.
एवं व्यास परं स्थानं सर्वपापहरं परम्
Thus, Vyasa, it is the supreme place, the highest remover of all sins.
अत्र स्नानादिकं कार्यं यत्र संनिहितो हरिः 5.1.65.
Here, one should perform bathing and other rites, for Hari is present there.
कियत्प्रमाणमात्रां च ये ददति वसुंधराम्
Those who give even a small measure of land here—
अक्षय्या लभ्यते वृद्धिस्तेषां लोकाः सनातनाः
For them, inexhaustible increase and eternal worlds are obtained.
नागानां पूजनं कार्यं श्राद्धं दर्शे विधीयते
One should worship the Nagas and perform Śrāddha at the new moon.
इति श्रीस्कांदे महापुराण एकाशीतिसाहस्र्यां संहितायां पञ्चम आवंत्यखण्डेऽवन्तीक्षेत्रमाहात्म्ये तीर्थयात्रायां नागतीर्थमहिमवर्णनंनाम पंचषष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the sixty-fifth chapter, entitled 'The Description of the Glory of the Nāga Tīrtha,' in the section on the pilgrimage to holy places, in the Avanti Khanda of the eighty-one-thousand-verse Śrī Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
तत्तीर्थं सर्वपापघ्नं नृसिंहस्य महात्मनः
That sacred place destroys all sins; it belongs to the great soul Narasimha.
यस्य दर्शनमात्रेण सर्वपापं समुत्तरेत्
By merely seeing it, all sins are overcome.
तेनेयं वसुधा सर्वा संप्राप्ता च दुरात्मना
By him, this entire earth was seized by the wicked.
गौर्भूत्वाऽश्रुमुखी देवैर्ब्रह्माणं शरणं ययौ
Becoming a cow, tear-faced, she sought refuge with Brahma among the gods.
उवाच श्लक्ष्णया वाचा तस्याः श्रमं व्यपोहितुम्
He spoke with gentle words to relieve her distress.
वचो वदामि ते तथ्यं देशकालोचितं तथा
I speak to you words that are true and appropriate to place and time.
गायत्र्युपासना तेन कृता सुनियतात्मना
He performed worship of Gayatri with a well-disciplined mind.
न दिवा न तथा रात्रौ नांतरिक्षे न भूतले
Neither by day nor by night, neither in the sky nor on earth—
न देवासुर गंधर्वैर्न यक्षोरगकिन्नरैः
Not by gods, demons, gandharvas, nor by yakshas, serpents, or kinnaras—
मानवैः पक्षिजातैश्च न मे मृत्युर्भवेदिति 5.1.66.१
Nor by humans or birds—may death come to me.
मारयिष्यति मां वीरः स मे मृत्युर्भविष्यति
That hero will kill me; he will become my death.
आगमं चैव लोकं स्वं स दैत्यो घोरशासनः
That fierce, law-giving demon will seize both my tradition and his own world.
तस्यैवाऽधिकृता लोके बभूवुर्विगतज्वराः
Those who were under his authority in the world became free from distress.
तस्माद्यूयं वनं यात महाकालं महेशितुः
Therefore, you all should go to the forest of Mahākāla, belonging to the great Lord.
संगमेश्वरस्य दक्षिणे कर्कराजोत्तरे तथा
At the southern side of Saṃgameśvara, and north of Karkarāja likewise,
नृसिंहाख्यं परं धाम तस्य तीर्थं प्रतिष्ठितम्
There is established the supreme abode called Nṛsiṃha, his sacred place.
कुरुत सत्वरं सर्वे पुनर्लोकानवाप्स्यथ
All of you, act quickly; you will regain the worlds again.
महाकालवनं प्राप्ता यत्र शिप्रा पयस्विनी
Having reached the forest of Mahākāla, where the river Śiprā flows with pure waters,
