वशीचक्रे स धर्मात्मा सर्वकामवरप्रदाः 5.1.64.
That righteous soul brought them under control; they grant every desired boon.
ऊषरस्य परे पूर्वे सोऽपि तिष्ठति सर्वदा
He always remains to the east, beyond the barren land.
नवमीं चाऽष्टमीं प्राप्य चतुर्दश्यां विशेषतः
Especially on the fourteenth day, and upon the eighth and ninth days,
विवाहे पुत्रजनने मांगल्ये च शुभे परम्
At weddings, childbirth, and all auspicious occasions,
तांबूलवासगंधाद्यैः पूजयेद्वरद रूपिणम्
One should worship the boon-giving form with betel, perfumes, and fragrances.
एतत्परमकल्याणमेतत्परममंगलम्
This is the highest blessing; this is the supreme auspiciousness.
सकलकलुषहारी धूर्तदुष्टांऽतकारी सुचिरचरितचारी मुंडमौंजीप्रचारी
It removes all impurities, destroys wicked and evil ones, is practiced by the virtuous for long, and is followed by those with shaven heads and sacred grass girdles.
विविधरासविलासविलासितं नववधूरवधूतपराक्रमम्
It is adorned with various playful sports, displays the valor of newly-wed brides and young women.
अमलकमलनेत्रं चारुचंद्रावतंसं सकलगुणगरिष्टं कामिनीकामरूपम्
With eyes pure as lotus petals, adorned with a beautiful crescent moon, possessing all noble qualities, and taking the form desired by lovers.
सबलबलविघातं क्षेत्रपालैकपालं विकटकटिकरालं ह्यट्टहासं विशालम्
Destroyer of all strength and obstacles, sole guardian of the field, fierce and terrifying in appearance, with a wide, roaring laughter.
भवभयपरिहारं योगिनीत्रासकारं सकलसुरगणेशं चारुचंद्रार्कनेत्रम् 5.1.64.
Remover of the fear of worldly existence, causing dread among yoginis, lord of all divine hosts, with eyes radiant like the moon and sun.
चतुर्भुजं शंखगदाधराऽऽयुधं पीतांबरं सांद्रपयोदसौभगम्
Four-armed, holding conch, mace, and weapons, clad in yellow garments, possessing the beauty of dense rain clouds.
लोकाऽभिरामं भुवनाभिरामं प्रियाभिरामं यशसाभिरामम्
Delightful to the worlds, delightful to the universe, delightful to beloved ones, delightful through fame.
आद्यं ब्रह्मसनातनं शुचिपरं सिद्धिप्रदं कामदं सेव्यं भक्तिसमन्वितं हरिहरैः सृष्ट्यासहं साधुभिः
The primordial, eternal Brahman, devoted to purity, bestower of accomplishment and desires, worthy of service, endowed with devotion, worshipped by Hari and Hara, and by the virtuous at the time of creation.
भैरवाष्टकमिदं पुण्यं प्रातःकाले पठेन्नरः ।। दुःस्वप्ननाशनं तस्य वांछितार्थफलं भवेत्
This sacred Bhairava Octet should be recited by a person in the morning; it destroys bad dreams and grants the desired fruits.
राजद्वारे विवादे च संग्रामे संकटेतथा
At the royal gate, in disputes, in battle, and in adversity.
दारिद्र्यदुःखनाशाय पठितव्यं समाहितैः
It should be recited with concentration for the removal of poverty and suffering.
संसारभयभीतैश्च पूजितो भैरवो वरः
Bhairava, the excellent one, is worshipped by those fearful of the dangers of worldly existence.
इति श्रीस्कांदे महापुराण एकाशीतिसाहस्र्यां संहितायां पञ्चम आवंत्यखण्डे ऽवन्तीक्षेत्रमाहात्म्ये कालभैरवतीर्थयात्रावर्णनंनाम चतुःषष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the sixty-fourth chapter named 'The Description of the Pilgrimage to the Kālabhairava Tīrtha,' in the section on the greatness of the Avanti region, in the fifth book of the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, comprising eighty-one thousand verses.
तस्य तीर्थवरस्याऽपि महिमानं च सत्तम
O noble one, the greatness of that excellent tīrtha also—
भूयस्तु श्रोतुमिच्छामि त्वत्तो ब्रह्मविदां वर

Those burned by Janamejaya were liberated by Āstika.
जनमेजयस्य यज्ञेस्मिन्देवराजस्य संनिधौ
During Janamejaya’s sacrifice, in the presence of the king of gods—
अस्माकं भूतिमन्विच्छन्वासस्यार्थं परंतप
Seeking the existence of our ancestors, for the sake of residence, O scorcher of foes—
महाकालवने रम्ये या वै कुशस्थली स्मृता
In the beautiful Mahākāla forest is the place known as Kuśasthalī.
तस्यां हि दक्षिणे भागे पूर्वतीर्थं सना तनम्
On its southern side lies the ancient and renowned holy site.
योगनिद्रां समासाद्य शेते ब्रह्म सनातनम्
There, the eternal Brahman rests, having entered yogic sleep.
लोमशश्च महातेजास्तत्रैव प्रतितिष्ठति
There too stands Lomaśa, of great brilliance.
