As long as you remain at the gate of Trikūṭa, O best of sages,
Kuśasthalī, supremely holy, pure, and destroyer of sin—there, indeed, I dwell for a long time with the Mothers.
Even there, you shall always obtain lordship over the field of Siddhas.
Where the abode of the virtuous is, goddesses reside by the millions.
And they worship me with devotion, using incense, lamps, fire offerings.
For them, nothing is difficult to obtain in the three worlds.
They attain various enjoyments, even those rare for the gods.
Never shall harm come to them from weapons, fire, or floods.
With all sins cleansed from the soul, one who dies goes to the city of Shiva. Thus, Vyāsa, having reached the delightful and auspicious city of Ujjayinī,
The goddess Vindhyavāsinī is always sought there.
Women afflicted by menstrual impurity, the barren, and those like crows and cranes,
Even those impure, after bathing and beholding Vindhyavāsinī,
The childless obtain sons, girls secure heroic husbands as their boon.
A Brahmin becomes learned, a Kshatriya becomes victorious.
This sacred tale grants all desired boons.
Thus ends the fifty-fifth chapter, named 'The Description of the Glory of the Vimalodā Tīrtha and Vindhyavāsinī,' in the Avanti Section of the Fifth Book of the eighty-one-thousand-verse Śrī Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
Where, merely by bathing, one is freed from great sins,
When the new moon falls on a Saturday, and one arrives with a focused mind,
One should behold, with reverence, the supreme emblem of the god, both moving and unmoving.
I wish to hear further, in detail, O ascetic rich in austerity.
By merely hearing of it, the destruction of great sins occurs.
The Revā, Carmaṇvatī, and Kṣātā—three rivers—were once, O sinless one,
holy, filled with sacred waters, delightful, pure, and destroyers of sin.
Once, in a beautiful grove, in the excellent field of Māndhātṛ,
Due to a slight fault arising in their association, a separation occurred between them.
In the delightful forest of Mahākāla, the noble rivers spent time together.
The best among all sacred waters, known as Rudrasara, is remembered as the foremost.
There, having arrived and once mingled, they took refuge in the Śiprā; where the dust was cleansed, the fire was instantly declared.
I wish to know this from you, O foremost among those who know Brahman.
Sanatkumāra said: In ancient times, Tvaṣṭṛ gave Sāvitrī, his own daughter, to Sūrya.
