Those who, for play, were obtained by Shambhu for the consumption of Paulas,
The sight of all of them is auspicious and destroys the influence of malignant beings.
Having obtained the spear, Mahāsena, the great vow-holder, the commander of the gods,
Having given the prosperous kingdom, cleared of thorns, to Indra,
Thus, having slain the lord of the demons, that mighty son of the Ganges,
Then, O Vyāsa, Bhogavatī emerged, split by the spear,
All the sacred places on earth and those found in the oceans,

Whoever gives a milch cow at that sacred place,

A man devoted to his ancestors, O sage, who performs the release of a bull there,
Even the fruit of giving a hundred Kapilā cows would be surpassed.
Even in a pond, one who bathes with controlled senses becomes like a forefather.
Whoever offers at night the oil-named oblation for the mothers,
A man who bathes in Viṣṇu's pond, whether in Caitra or Phālguna, is freed from all sins and goes to Viṣṇu's world.

Such a person is born in the world as a generous, sovereign king.
Having seen Lord Agastyeśvara, observing a fast and with senses controlled,
One should fashion an image of Agastya from gold or silver, according to one's ability.
He should be worshipped according to prescribed rules with fruits and flowers available at the time.
The seven principal grains and their corresponding fruits are to be offered.

One should observe this vow in this manner for seven years.

Vyāsa, listen with focused mind to the fruit obtained by offering arghya.
