Tell me all this, dear one, and also the auspicious origin of the lamp.
He went to ask for a boon, and by her he was also entreated.
Therefore I earnestly ask you, O Śambhu, be gracious, O divine-eyed one.
That which was described by Bhava is indeed most auspicious to me.
Just as a bee seated on a white lotus enhances its beauty,
You are the maker of various forms, yet you do not listen to words when spoken.
When she said, 'You are Bhava,' he took her hand.
She granted him pleasure and laughed, uttering his name.
Remembering the words of the gods, she spoke, filled with anger:
Whenever I become golden in form again,
Thus speaking these very words, she went to Mount Vindhya.
Recalling only those actions and those former words,
Because of me, O daughter of the Himalaya, the most beautiful in all the worlds,
Thus he spoke these very words and then departed from your sight.
Then the world became filled with confusion and great fear.
Abandoning their abodes, they fell into deep despair.
The entire world lost its light and became a wilderness.
For the three eyes of Rudra are the sun, the moon, and fire.
Then, in that dreadful, impenetrable darkness that arose,
This was the thought that arose among them for the accomplishment of their purpose.
For without him there is no light from the moon, sun, or fire.
O god! O sage! O perfected one! O seer! O night-wanderer!
Where have you gone, dear one? Whom have you found, O Lord?
Do you have any provisions with you, or anything at all in any direction?
Do you reside anywhere? How do you obtain water, or peace of mind?
In this way, speaking compassionately to each other,
Those living beings who dwell within the cavities of the earth,
For them, there is no sun, no moon, nor any other great planets.
By what light do they see the level and uneven places?
Who, moving equally, grants hundreds of desires of the mind?
