By deed, thought, or word, they proceed to the great river.
And one who crosses mountains unlawfully surely goes to the sword-leaf forest.
They go to the dreadful hell called Kṛṣṇasūtra, exceedingly terrible.
And whoever has intercourse with an outcaste woman, both fall into hell.
They are cooked in foul food, especially the one who hates a friend.
Those who are taught by their own sons fall into the food of dogs.
There, the evildoers who have come to torment are cooked.
Having committed much sin and turning away from atonement—
The supreme atonement for him is the remembrance of Śiva.
He who is purified, whose all sins are destroyed, does not go to hell; for him, a lamp should be offered before the Lord of gods.
Tell me all this, dear one, and also the auspicious origin of the lamp.
He went to ask for a boon, and by her he was also entreated.
Therefore I earnestly ask you, O Śambhu, be gracious, O divine-eyed one.
That which was described by Bhava is indeed most auspicious to me.
Just as a bee seated on a white lotus enhances its beauty,
You are the maker of various forms, yet you do not listen to words when spoken.
When she said, 'You are Bhava,' he took her hand.
She granted him pleasure and laughed, uttering his name.
Remembering the words of the gods, she spoke, filled with anger:
Whenever I become golden in form again,
Thus speaking these very words, she went to Mount Vindhya.
Recalling only those actions and those former words,
Because of me, O daughter of the Himalaya, the most beautiful in all the worlds,
Thus he spoke these very words and then departed from your sight.
Then the world became filled with confusion and great fear.
Abandoning their abodes, they fell into deep despair.
The entire world lost its light and became a wilderness.
For the three eyes of Rudra are the sun, the moon, and fire.
Then, in that dreadful, impenetrable darkness that arose,
This was the thought that arose among them for the accomplishment of their purpose.
