ततोऽधिकं स लभते नात्र कार्या विचारणा
He attains even greater benefit; there is no need for doubt in this matter.
ततः प्रसिद्धो लोकेऽस्मिन्नृद्धिदः करभेश्वरः ।। 5.1.28.
Thus, Karabheśvara became famous in this world as the bestower of prosperity.
सनत्कुमार उवाच लइडुकैश्च ततो देवैर्विघ्ननाथः समर्चितः
Sanatkumāra said: Then, Vighnanātha was worshipped by the gods with sweet balls.
यः समर्चयते भक्त्या तस्य विघ्नो न जायते
Whoever worships him with devotion, for that person no obstacle arises.
निराहारश्चतुर्थ्यां च स्नात्वा शिप्रां विशेषतः
Fasting on the fourth day, having bathed especially in the Śiprā river,
रक्तचंदनतोयेन मंत्रैः स्नपनपूर्वकम्
With water mixed with red sandalwood, preceded by recitation of mantras,
धूपं दद्यात्तथा दिव्यं सुगंधं लड्डुकप्रिये
He should offer divine incense, fragrant and pleasing to the lover of sweet balls.
न तस्य जायते व्याधिर्भयं विघ्नं कदाचन
For him, disease, fear, or obstacles never arise at any time.
अवतीर्णः पुनर्लोके जायते वसुधाधिपः
Descending again to the world, he is born as a ruler of the earth.
श्रद्धया पूजयेद्यस्तु शिवलोके स मोदते
Whoever worships with faith rejoices in the realm of Śiva.
जयेश्वरं तु यः पश्येद्देवदेवं महेश्वरम्
Whoever beholds Jayeśvara, the god of gods, the great lord,
शिवद्वारे शिवं लिंगमर्चयेन्मानवो यदि 5.1.28.
If a person worships the Śiva liṅga at the gate of Śiva,
अथान्यं संप्रवक्ष्यामि मार्कंडेश्वरमुत्तमम्
Now I shall describe another, the supreme Mārkaṇḍeśvara.
दृष्ट्वा तं शंकरं देवं वाजपेयफलं लभेत्
Seeing that god Śaṃkara, one obtains the fruit of the Vājapeya sacrifice.
शृणु व्यास महास्थानं यस्यां पुर्यामनुत्तमम्
Hear, Vyāsa, of the great place, the most excellent in that city.
भक्तानां पूरयेदाशां पुत्रवत्परिपालयेत्
He fulfills the wishes of devotees and protects them as a father does his son.
अर्चिता ब्रह्मणा सा तु स्तुता देवी सुरोत्तमैः अपि या ब्रह्मणः पूर्वमभूदेव सुसिद्धिदा
She was worshipped by Brahma and praised by the best of the gods; even before Brahma, she existed, granting perfect accomplishments.
यः स्नात्वा ब्रह्मसरसि पश्ये द्ब्रह्मेश्वरं शिवम्
Whoever, after bathing in the Brahma lake, beholds Brahmeshvara Shiva—
अथान्यां संप्रवक्ष्यामि यज्ञवापीमनुत्तमाम्
Now I will describe another, the supreme sacrificial pond.
यज्ञार्थं यत्कृतं कुंडं यज्ञवापी च सा स्मृता
The pit created for sacrifice is remembered as the sacrificial pond.
तस्यां स्नात्वा शुचिर्भूत्वा पश्येत्पशुपतिं तु यः
Whoever bathes there, becomes pure, and beholds Pashupati—
सुवर्णमणिमुक्ताद्यैर्विमानैः सर्वकामगैः 5.1.28.
With palaces made of gold, jewels, pearls, and all desired pleasures—
रूपकुंडे नरः स्नात्वा सुरूपो जायतेनरः
A man who bathes in the pond of beauty becomes handsome.
कुंडे स्नात्वाप्यनंगे यः शुचिर्भूत्वा समाहितः कामं स लभतेऽभीष्टं मृतो याति शिवालयम्
Whoever bathes in the pond of love, becomes pure and focused, attains the desired pleasure, and after death goes to Shiva's abode.
आषाढे तु सिताष्टम्यां जागरं यस्तु कारयेत्
On the bright eighth day of Ashadha, whoever performs a vigil—
करीकुंडे नरः स्नात्वा विश्वरूपं तु योऽर्चयेत्
A man who bathes in the elephant pond and worships the universal form—
अजागंधे नरः स्नात्वा दृष्ट्वा ब्रह्मेश्वरं शिवम्
A man who bathes in the goat-scented pond and beholds Brahmeshvara Shiva—
चक्रतीर्थे नरः स्नात्वा चक्र स्वामिनमर्चयेत् ४६. कामिकेन विमानेन रुद्रलोकं स गच्छति
A man who bathes at the Chakra tirtha and worships the lord of the chakra, attains the world of Rudra in a desired palace.
सोमवन्निर्मलो भूत्वा सोमलोके स मोदते
Becoming pure like Soma, he delights in the world of Soma.
अभूदेतत्कथं नाम श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वतः
How did this happen? I wish to hear the truth of it.
