By their own radiance and great splendor, earned through virtuous deeds,
With a shower of blessed flowers, swift and driven by the wind,
Rama then touched the waters of the Sarayu river with his feet.
For you are the lord of the worlds, O god, yet no one knows you.
You are inconceivable, a great and imperishable wonder, upholding the worlds.
By the word of the grandsire, he himself entered there; then the gods, delighting in Vishnu, worshipped the best of gods.
The Sādhyas, the hosts of Maruts, Indra and those led by Agni, Suparṇas, Nāgas, Yakṣas, as well as Daityas, Dānavas, and Rākṣasas,
All the gods, joyful and delighted, their desires completely fulfilled,
Then the mighty and radiant Vishnu spoke to the grandsire:
All these people have come here out of affection for me.
Hearing what Viṣṇu had spoken, the Lord of all worlds said:
At this holy place, which is the gateway to heaven, one should meditate solely on Rāma.
All those called Saṃtānika, after departing from the world of Brahmā,
From whom have arisen those gods and demons born of various bodies,
The sages, nāgas, and yakṣas also will go to their respective abodes.
They entered the Sarayū, filled with water at that time.
Abandoning their human bodies, they ascended celestial vehicles.
There, having given up their bodies, they assumed divine forms.
Having attained the highest form, they reached the world of the gods; all of them entered, leaving their bodies behind at that time.
Then all of them went to heaven, remembering the mighty Lord, the teacher of the worlds.
Therefore, that holy place became renowned as Gopratāra.
O brāhmaṇa, if this union is attained even after hundreds of births,
There is no doubt that at Gopratāra, Hari is firmly established through devotion.
Even a learned man who bathes at Gopratāra is certainly purified.
Especially in the month of Kārtika, those who have mastered their senses should bathe; people come to Ayodhyā especially to bathe at Gopratāra.
There has never been, nor will there be, a holy place equal to Gopratāra.
One becomes sinless, having abandoned impurity, with a pure body and white garment.
O virtuous one, whatever divine holy places exist on earth,
On the Gopratara day, one should perform recitation, offerings into the fire, bathing, and giving gifts according to one's ability.
In the month of Kartika, by attaining this, all the sacred places are also reached.
