Three of them were crying; one cried openly, unrestrained.
As the Fire was wailing, Brahma, filled with compassion, acted again.
That time, that desire, that function was established for him.
The fire of the shout blazed forth, and he said: What is this?
Whether among the gods, outside, or in the hermitages of sages.
I myself will provide thus, he said again and again.

Summoning the fire of the letter 'i', Brahma spoke these words.
Summoning the fire of the letter 'u', Brahma spoke these words.
I will arrange for you a place and food as well.
Therefore, Fire said to Vyasa: in the mountain, in the fortress, O great sage.

The fire said to Brahmā: 'I am the mouth of speech.'
Brahmā said to him: 'Because you desire the place of brilliance—'
Because, seeing your radiance, the eye becomes weakened—
Then, having separated the letter 'i', the Grandfather addressed the fire.
Because you, of great strength and gentle gaze, have come here swiftly—
With a cool nature and cool rays, you shall become the moon.
Standing upon the tree, you will surpass all radiances with your own brilliance.

Saying, 'Come here, come here,' he placed it upon his head.
Thus, the fire with form, the fire of the letter 'u', was established.
The fire, having taken that form, spoke this supreme word to Brahmā.
Brahmā said to him: 'Which place do you desire, O Fire?'
There is no suitable place for you; therefore, it shall be thus.
In the world, you shall always act as the cause of the world's order.
If here you, adorned with great blazing flames, are not this original dharma, then it is due to the delusion of desire caused by illusion.
