तत्प्रभावात्पुनः प्राप्तो वियुक्तोऽपि शतक्रतुः
By the power of that place, even though separated, Śatakratu regained her.
नरो वा यदि वा नारी वियुक्ताऽत्र वने शुभे
Whether man or woman, separated in this auspicious forest,
स तेन लभते संगं भूय एव यथा मया
By that, one attains union again, just as I did.
फलदानं प्रशंसंति तत्र ब्राह्मणसत्तमाः
The best of Brāhmaṇas praise the giving of fruits there.

Whoever, with devotion, worships the married couple there, O king of men—

Whoever bathes there, O king, is certainly endowed with brilliance.
निःश्रीकस्तेजसा हीनो दुर्गन्धेन समन्वितः
He who is deprived of fortune and brilliance, afflicted with foul odor—
ततः पप्रच्छ देवेन्द्रो द्विजश्रेष्ठं बृहस्पतिम्
Then Indra, lord of the gods, questioned the best of Brahmins, Brihaspati—
तीर्थं विना ध्रुवं वृद्धिस्तेजसो न भविष्यति
Without the sacred place, surely, there will be no increase of brilliance.
ततस्तीर्थान्यनेकानि भ्रांत्वा शक्रो नराधिप स्नानं चक्रे ततः श्रान्तो महौजाः प्रत्यपद्यत
Then, after wandering to many sacred places, Shakra, lord of men, bathed; then, exhausted, he regained his great energy.
दुर्गन्धेन विनिर्मुक्तस्ततो देवैः समावृतः
Freed from foul odor, he was then surrounded by the gods.
येऽत्र स्नानं करिष्यन्ति प्राप्ते शक्रोच्छ्रये सदा सुश्रीकाश्च भविष्यंति सदा जन्मनिजन्मनि
Those who bathe here, whenever the favor of Shakra is obtained, will always be endowed with good fortune, in every birth.

Whoever bathes there properly attains the desired fruit.
आसीत्पुरा निमिर्नाम क्षत्रियः सूर्यवंशजः
Long ago there was a Kshatriya named Nimi, descended from the solar dynasty.
प्रायोपवेशनं कृत्वा स्थितस्तत्र समाहितः
Having undertaken a fast unto death, he remained there, fully concentrated.
चक्रुर्धर्मकथां पुण्यां राजर्षीणां महात्मनाम्
They recited the auspicious stories of the great-souled royal sages.
ततः कश्चित्कथांते च लोमशो नाम सन्मुनिः
Then, at the end of the story, a certain sage named Lomasha—
तच्छ्रुत्वा पार्थिवो राजन्निमिः परमदुर्मनाः
Hearing this, King Nimi, O king, became extremely distressed.
ततः प्रोवाच तं विप्रमस्त्युपायो द्विजोत्तम
Then he said to that learned Brahmin, 'There is a way, O best of twice-born.'
लोमश उवाच दया मे नृप सञ्जाता त्वां दृष्ट्वा दुःखितं भृशम्
Lomaśa said: 'Compassion has arisen in me, O king, seeing you so deeply afflicted.'
अत्रैव चानयिष्यामि जंबूद्वीपोद्भवानि च
Right here I shall bring forth things born on Jambūdvīpa.
स्नानं कुरु महाराज ह्येकीभूतेषु तत्र च 7.3.60.
O great king, bathe there where all have become one.
एवमुक्त्वा स विप्रर्षिर्ध्यानं चक्रे समाहितः
Having spoken thus, that sage among Brahmins entered into meditation with focused mind.
प्रत्ययार्थं च राजर्षे जंबूवृक्षो व्यजायत
And for your assurance, O royal sage, a Jambū tree appeared.
सदेहश्च गतः स्वर्गे तीर्थस्नानादनन्तरम्
With his body, he went to heaven after bathing at the holy place.
कन्यागते रवौ तत्र यः श्राद्धं कुरुते नरः
