Thus addressed, I was awakened by the ancestors, O fair one.
Indumati spoke: This is true, O great king, what you have been told by your grandfathers.
Just as, upon obtaining a good son, the ancestors cross over, O king.
Therefore, summon the foremost Brahmins, skilled in the scriptures of dharma.
The king then brought many Brahmins; endowed with humility, he spoke to them, together with his wife, seeking their welfare.
Those who are rescued by a good son attain heaven; let this be declared clearly.
Those dwelling in hell attain heaven, even if they are very sinful.
Whatever needs to be done here, let it all be declared.
Thus addressed by the king, the truthful Brahmins spoke.
Initiation must be undertaken, O best of kings, beginning with the preliminary rites.
You, O king, have engaged in sinful conduct since childhood.
When you, best of kings, are consecrated at all the sacred waters,
The holy places such as Prabhāsa, which exist upon the earth,
Go to those difficult places in your mind, giving the highest charity, which people do not reach by bathing at sacred sites and such on earth, O king.
He became devoted to pilgrimage and wandered across the land.
Disciplined and moderate in food, he gave abundant gifts.
Then, after some time, he undertook a pilgrimage to holy places.
He performed bathing there with a mind purified by faith.
His ancestors, freed from the fierce hell, became exceedingly joyful.
All those rescued said to him, 'Son, now we have been saved by you.'
And you yourself, O foremost of kings, by bathing and offering water,
This holy place will be called 'Kulasaṃtāraṇa,' for the deliverance of the lineage; come here in this body, by the power of this sacred site.
Then, ascending the celestial vehicle, he went to heaven together with them.
Such is the power, O royal sage, of Kulasaṃtāraṇa.
He went to heaven in his own body; this is a great wonder to me.
Where the king bathed, that place is of the highest, supreme merit.
Thus ends the forty-eighth chapter named 'The Description of the Glory of Kulasaṃtāraṇa Tīrtha,' in the third Arbuda section of the seventh Prabhāsa section, in the eighty-one-thousand verse Śrī Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
There, for a mortal who bathes, the destruction of sin arises.
And the supreme satisfaction of the ancestors lasted until the dissolution of beings.
Before that, he performed austerities, desiring the destruction of his enemies.
