The Vasus spoke: Whoever, for three nights, properly undertakes fasting,
Those who give umbrellas and footwear will attain eternal worlds.
He will especially become renowned in the hermitage, celebrated among people.
For seven successive births, he will be endowed with beauty.
He will obtain the fruit of a thousand Cāndrāyaṇa observances.
By that command, the goddess ascended to heaven and remained there.
Then mortals ascended to heaven, having seen the goddess in that hermitage.
All rites such as Agniṣṭoma were lost from the earth.
Then, frightened, Sahasrākṣa consulted with his teacher.
He was afflicted by confusion, thirst, and fatigue arising from home and offspring.
By my command, serve at the sacred shrine of Caṇḍikā.
Thus addressed, all those desires and others departed swiftly.
Knowing this, go quickly there, O best of kings.
Whoever goes to see Caṇḍikā at Aburda, O king,
that son who is in this hermitage will deliver all of us.
By one, the kingdom is obtained; by the second, heaven indeed.
Therefore, with all effort, one should undertake the journey there.
Other sacred places are indeed purified by bathing and giving, without doubt.
Whoever hears this account always, endowed with faith,
in whose house, O king, this is kept written in a book,
or the man, O lord of the earth, who recites it with faith,
Where the serpents performed austerities on the lovely mountain slope,
Having heard long ago of Kadru's curse, all the serpents were filled with fear.
We are tormented by our mother's curse, O best of serpents.
She said: Those who are devoted to austerity, righteous, and well-disciplined,
the fire will not burn them in the sacrifice of Parīkṣit.
There, you should be devoted to austerity, well-concentrated.
By whose mere mention, calamities are surely destroyed.
By her grace, you all shall become free from affliction; whether divine or human, none else can grant you liberation.
Having bowed to him, they then departed toward Mount Arbuda.
