This god, known as Guptahari, is renowned throughout the worlds.
Here, whoever among living beings is foremost in worship, sacrifice, recitation, and the like—
Here, whoever gives charity according to their ability, having mastered their senses,
Here, for my satisfaction, the gods are worshipped by beings who desire righteousness.
A cow with golden horns, silver hooves, covered with two garments,
With a jeweled tail, yielding milk, adorned with bell ornaments,
Should be given to a twice-born who knows the Vedas, who possesses virtue, and whose soul is pure.
And a cow should be given to a brāhmaṇa; one thereby enjoys happiness everywhere.
For my satisfaction, it should be given here with an inner self that is pure.
And those who, purified by bathing, here with devotion to me,
Likewise, at the seat of Hari with the discus, the highest gift should be given for my satisfaction.
You also, O best of the good, should undertake the pilgrimage here according to the injunction.
On the eastern side, from the cow’s ford, extending for three yojanas,
Here, after bathing according to the injunction, one should carefully behold this place.
Even the gods, having performed the pilgrimage here according to the injunction, with great care,
From that time, O best of brāhmaṇas, that place became renowned on earth.
There, at the confluence, after bathing, the Lord, the concealed Hari, should be worshipped; he grants all desired fruits.
Likewise, the pilgrimage to Hari with the discus should be performed with great care.
Thus, whoever undertakes this pilgrimage rejoices in the world of Viṣṇu.
Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana Vyāsa then spoke again, with wonder.
By what you have spoken, this wonder has arisen in my mind.
Tell me in detail about this most marvelous greatness.
Listen, O best of Brahmins, to the most wondrous greatness of the confluence.
Ten billion thousand and ten billion hundred beings always dwell there, O Brahmin, as I have learned from Skanda.
Of the gods, the immortals, the perfected ones, and also the yogis.
A man who bathes there in the waters of the confluence with a focused mind—
Having performed a sacrifice with a Vaiṣṇava mantra in purity, whatever fruit he obtains—
Is equal to a thousand horse sacrifices and a hundred Vājapeya rites.
And the merit gained by giving gold daily is also obtained there.
On the new moon, the full moon, and on both twelfth days—
