The cities, the wondrous towns, and the villages as well.
Then he established the god Kuśeśvara and also Laveśvara.
Having informed the foremost of the Brāhmaṇas, he arranged their livelihood as appropriate.
The departed ones indeed filled the land that arose from the liṅga.
Whatever is established there is the original sacred ford, the abode of the gods.
From then on, well-being arose in that field, O best of twice-born.
Then, at some time, Bṛhadaśva, the king,
saw the vast land devoid of temples.
He summoned artisans there by the thousands.
As the ground was being dug, many liṅgas were found there.
Then that king, seeing the land filled with those liṅgas,
From that time onward, no mortal on earth there
Thus ends the one hundred and fifth chapter, named 'The Cutting of the Rākṣasa Liṅga,' in the section on the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara field, in the sixth book, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
Tell us which sacred fords and liṅgas have disappeared.
I will declare, in order of importance, those that have vanished.
There, the sacred ford that has vanished is known as Cakratīrtha.
Likewise, Mātr̥tīrtha, which grants all desires to people.
Also, the excellent liṅga of King Mucukunda has disappeared.
And those of Ikṣvāku, Vasuṣeṇa, and the great-souled Kakutstha.
Of Agniveśa, Raibhya, Cyavana, and also of Bhṛgu.
Of the great sage Hārīta and the great-souled Haryaśva.
Likewise, there were many liṅgas of the wives of the sages.
Of the other wives of the sages, whose number is not known,
Seeing a rain of dust released by the pretas all around,
By that, a rain made of dust was scattered all around outside; though it falls upon that ground, nothing there becomes filled.
Then those spirits, weary and hopeless about filling it,
By us, O king, that rain of dust was made there.
Therefore, O king, consider a means to hinder them.
Hearing those words of theirs, then the wise king of Kusha—
Then, at the end of the rains, the blessed Lord Hara attained satisfaction.
