Though you were bound by sin, you have now reached my abode.
In the very water where you released your life, O sinner, your sins also were released.
Then, by touching it, he is instantly freed from all sins.
Thus, by the theft of the jewel, blindness has arisen for you.
Therefore, I have prescribed a remedy again, O best of twice-born; so send me there, O lord, what is the point here?
Your dwelling in hell is not born from the realm of Śvetadvīpa.
The greatness does not perish; the scripture would be devoid of truth.
Having gone to that reservoir of water, where the life-breaths have departed,
That will happen by my word, as I consecrate the one who has entered the water.
Then, by his words, I always observe the festival of lamps.
After that, I attain satisfaction for as long as the divine day lasts.
There is nothing unattainable for you, O foremost sage, in the three worlds.
Therefore, O sage, show me the greatest compassion.
Likewise, grant me the gift of sight, O eminent sage.
Hearing his words, my mind was moved by compassion.
Give me, as payment for food, the ornament that rests upon your neck.
Thus, from today onward, O wise one, pure jewel-lamps
By which eternal, pure sight is produced for you.
Take this excellent necklace made of jewels.
Then, overcome by compassion, I accepted his offering; though without desire, it was received by the sage dwelling in the forest. After washing my feet, as payment for food, this ornament was given to him, with true devotion and a purified mind. Supreme satisfaction arose, born from divine nectar.
His body was lost, dead, and decayed, having arisen long before.
Then, with great devotion, O best of Raghus, Damodara established there an excellent temple in that place.
In front of it, filled with faith, he offered a lamp and gifts as appropriate.
After a month had passed, the king attained divine sight.
Then, delighted, he approached me, bowed with joined palms, and spoke.
By your grace, my terrible hunger has been destroyed.
Therefore, grant me permission so that I may now depart.
Then, released by me, he bowed again and again.
Thus, this ornament that was once in my hand has come to be.
From that time onward, O king, people coming here in the month of Kartika, at life's end, go to the heavenly abode.
