Thus, having made that path, arising from the bridge, accessible—
Thus ends the one hundred and first chapter, called 'The Description of the Installation of Rāmeśvara by Śrī Rāma in the Middle of the Bridge,' in the section on the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara field, in the sixth Nāgara-khaṇḍa of the eighty-eight-thousand-verse Mahāpurāṇa of Śrī Skanda.
O best of twice-born, listen to the wondrous event that occurred on the way.
O Brahmins, that celestial chariot, Puṣpaka, was traveling through the sky.
Then, seeing that Puṣpaka had become motionless in the expanse of the sky, you quickly go, O Wind-god, and find out the reason on earth.
Never, at any time, is its movement hindered anywhere by anyone.
Saying, 'So be it,' Hanuman descended to the surface of the earth.
Here below is an auspicious field known as Hāṭakeśvara.
The Ādityas, Vasus, Rudras, the divine physicians, and the Aśvins—
For this reason, the Puṣpaka does not pass beyond this place.
Rāghava directed the Puṣpaka toward that field, together with all those monkeys and various kinds of Rākṣasas.
He beheld the holy bathing places and sacred shrines, and there, after bathing in the wish-granting pond of Cāmuṇḍā—
Then he looked upon what had been constructed there by his father.
Having purified himself in the royal reservoir, he bathed and offered libations to his ancestors.
I shall establish a liṅga here, just as Keśava, my father, did.
I shall install the liṅga whose name was designated by him, in this most sacred field, perceiving myself as made of clay.
Having thus resolved, he also constructed five temples.
Then all the monkeys, and especially the Rākṣasas, too—
They remained there for a long time, filled with devotion.
Thus, I have told you everything about how the great Rāmeśvara came to be.
Whoever, rising early in the morning, always beholds this, O man,
And on the eighth or fourteenth day, whoever recites the story of Rama,
Thus ends the one hundred and second chapter, called 'The Description of the Construction and Consecration of the Five Shrines by Rama in the Hatakeshvara Field,' in the sixth book, Nagarakhanda, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahapurana.
The sages said: The liṅgas that were established by the Rākṣasas or by the monkeys—
Therefore, tell in detail, wherever and however they were established.
Having reached Bālamaṇḍanaka, and bathing there with concentration,
There he established the Mukhaliṅga of the wielder of the trident; likewise, all the other monkeys established Mukhaliṅgas of the wielder of the trident.
Whoever anoints those Mukhaliṅgas with clarified butter, when the sun is in Capricorn, attains the world of Shiva.
Then, in the western direction of that field, by the Rākṣasas—
By Rama, in the eastern direction, the five shrines were constructed.
