So it is with you, O best of the Raghu lineage; I have no command, but I report to you.
Hearing those words, his eyes reddened with anger.
As I am stationed here, speaking with him, there is no doubt—I will swiftly slay him with my own hand.
If I do not kill him when he comes within my sight here.
Knowing this, you must act with effort, without any doubt.
Having spoken thus, Lakshmana, of auspicious marks, said 'Let it be so.'
Then the divine messenger aligned himself with Rama.
And that wicked one, the thorn of the three worlds, was destroyed.
All duties have now been accomplished by you, O greatly fortunate one, O god.
If it pleases your mind, there is no obstacle now; forsaking the heavenly realm, you may enter the praised mortal world.
Then, afflicted by hunger, he said, 'Where is he? Where is he, O best of the Raghus?'
Therefore, O chief of Brahmins, wait here for a moment.
Until Rama pacifies the messenger born from Shakra.
Having pronounced a curse, I will devour the entire lineage—there is no doubt.
Apart from seeing me, O teacher, nothing else exists.
Hearing this, Lakshmana, sorrowful, began to ponder in his mind.
Having thus resolved, he then approached Rama.
Durvasa, the foremost among sages, O Lord, stands at your door.
Hearing those words, he then spoke to the messenger: 'I will come to you at the end of the year.'
Having spoken thus and dismissed the messenger, he addressed Lakshmana.
Then, taking the arghya and water for washing feet, he went forward to meet him.
Offering arghya to him according to the rite, he bowed repeatedly.
Welcome to you, O best of sages; again, a most hearty welcome to you.
Having granted me your favor, accept, O eminent sage, the honor due to you, for you are the repository of all austerities in the three worlds.
Today, having reached your abode, I am hungry and in need of food.
Therefore, O descendant of Raghu, quickly provide me with a meal.
Then he served him food with a mind purified by devotion.
With various kinds of soft, liquid, chewable, and edible foods.
