I shall take incarnation, assuming four forms.
Therefore, for the sake of the gods' work, you, O king, return home.
Thus, this reservoir which you have constructed with pure water—
Whoever bathes in it with devotion and worships it—
Then, O king, he shall perform the ancestral rites for a whole year.
Having spoken thus, the Blessed Lord then disappeared from sight.

Thus ends the eighty-ninth chapter, entitled 'The Description of the Greatness of the Royal Master's Royal Reservoir,' in the section on the Glory of Hāṭakeśvara Kṣetra, in the sixth book, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
In the same way, Sītā was also established there by Rāma.
And likewise, a sanctuary was established there by him for the sake of Lakṣmaṇa.
O Sūta, you previously spoke of Rāma together with Lakṣmaṇa.

What you spoke of at that time—by him, Maheśvara was established here.
Now I shall tell everything in detail—listen, O best of twice-born.
When another day arrived, at that time, Raghunandana (Rāma) [did as follows].
And again, on another day, he was established there by him.
When he arrived, what sorrow befell him? Tell that.

As he sat thus in the council chamber, that great-souled one...
Then, with his mind overcome by anger, the messenger spoke respectfully.
Just as a serpent or a naga without poison is powerless.
