At present, this statement has been uttered by my astrologers.
If you, O slow-witted one, break that, Indra will not send rain.
When the obstruction of rain occurs, then food does not arise on earth.
When the destruction of people follows, then rituals like Agniṣṭoma cease.
For this reason, your path, born of the sun, is held back.
I am pleased with your valor, not with anyone else, O king.
No one has performed the deed that you have accomplished.
I do not see, O king, anyone at all above.
When the child was just born, I observed his feet.
But you, my son, must not see anything at all.
Therefore, you have performed a great deed, so difficult to accomplish.
Therefore, for your sake, I will not break Rohiṇī.
Choose a boon from us; therefore, today it shall be granted.
As long as another day passes, you must not cause pain.
Whoever gives sesame or iron for you in this way,
He must always be protected in hardships and dangers.
Whoever properly performs appeasement and sesame oblation with devotion,
For him, seven and a half years must be observed with effort.
Saturn, at the command of the king, O best of twice-born, slowly departed.
All this has been told to you in detail, as I was asked, concerning the conversation that arose at the time of Rohiṇī's division.
Whoever recites this daily, or especially listens to it,
Thus ends the ninety-sixth chapter, called 'The Description of the Dialogue between Daśaratha and Saturn,' in the section on the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara Kṣetra, in the sixth Nāgara Khaṇḍa of the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
By the command of that king, Daśaratha, he withdrew.
Hearing that account, Indra was filled with delight.
O lord of the earth, this deed of yours is truly most astonishing.
Therefore, satisfaction has arisen in me toward you today.
May you possess supreme, eternal status among all beings in every action.
So let it be, O king of kings; may you always be with me.
May you ever be at my side, in the assembly, in the presence of the gods.
Having spoken thus, the thousand-eyed one went to his heavenly abode.
