Then, as soon as the sun rose at dawn, he saw it.
Thinking of that Brahmin, he was seized by compassion and became deeply distressed.
Placing his son upon the throne, he attained supreme detachment.
After some time, he arrived at the abode of Yama.
Because of the sin of killing a Brahmin, even though he was in a child’s state, surely the killing of a Brahmin was ordained for him in another birth.
Whoever goes to the field at Haṭakeśvara and performs a śrāddha there,
No leprosy arises from the killing of a Brahmin outside of that.
O Lord of the gods, when you are pleased, nothing is impossible on earth.
Thus addressed, then, by him, the blessed Madhusūdana,
She was meditated upon at once by Viṣṇu, the mighty Viṣṇu.
Then the four-armed one spoke words to Ambarīṣa.
By which one becomes free from leprosy immediately.
At that very time, the king summoned his son.
Then that boy, having just bathed, O best of twice-born,
Then, bowing to that god, he was filled with great joy.
When the king departed with his son, Hari at that very moment—
For this reason, that water from before removes all sins.
Even today, by touching that water, one becomes supremely pure on earth; diseases like goiter and others quickly perish here.
Even terrible diseases, such as leprosy and skin ailments, arise.
However, a mortal who, without desire, bathes there with devotion—
On the day when the Ganga was brought there by Vishnu—
Likewise, on any other day, if one obtains that water—
Thus ends the ninety-third chapter, called 'The Greatness of Gomukha Tirtha,' in the section on the greatness of Hatakeshvara Kshetra, in the sixth book, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahapurana.
Likewise, there is another iron staff in that field, most splendid.
Seeing it, a man who is devoted to fasting—
That iron staff was made and left there; but where did it come from?
Having given the earth in sacrifice to the best of Brahmins, his anger gone—
Then, delighted, he set out, holding the ocean in his mind.
At that time, he was addressed by all the sages and residents of that field.
O Rama, Rama, greatly fortunate one, what you are holding in your hand—
