Thus, all that great land of theirs was vacated; now, let a place for their dwelling be indicated to us.
And at the time of twilight, let conception quickly occur among you.
Those women who weep as they go out into crossroads and three-way junctions,
Those who are impure, who crawl about, who indulge themselves and sleep,
Wherever impurity arises in the birthing chamber,
For the child for whom the sixth-night vigil is not observed,
Where fire does not enter the birthing house, there will be destruction,
The birthing house that is abandoned by auspicious rites,
The children who sleep at twilight in open spaces,
On whose birthday, at the year's end, no rite is performed,
The man who applies oil to his body but does not bathe,
He who remains impure, or stands in the middle of a crossroads,
The man who, overcome by desire, approaches a menstruating woman,
He who, at night, bathes facing south, being of deluded mind,
Or who faces north at night, or south during the day,
He who eats curd or saktu at night, facing the direction of darkness,
They then stood encircling him, their hearts filled with joy,
Meanwhile, the king Camatkāra, endowed with great power,
From that time on, in that renowned and prosperous land,
The man who, rising in the morning, looks upon the faces of those two,
Whoever performs worship for them at the beginning or end of the waxing and waning phases—
Or at the time of a journey, a man should perform worship for them.
Whoever offers oblation to them on every eighth and fourteenth lunar day—
He who, filled with faith, on the day called the Great Navamī—
Thus, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, in the section of eighty-eight thousand verses, in the sixth Nāgara Khaṇḍa, in the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara Kṣetra, this is the eighty-eighth chapter, entitled 'The Description of the Greatness of Ambāvṛddhā.'
There arose the destruction of children in every house of the brāhmaṇas.
Especially among the young men, after a marvelous event.
Then all those brāhmaṇas, having learned of the source of the calamity—
Approached Ambāvṛddhā and worshipped her with great care.
For the protection of all the brāhmaṇas, by the king with wonder—
