Where Bhīṣma, son of Gāṅgā, himself and others request for the establishment of a liṅga, there no prohibition is proper.
Hearing those words, the foremost of the twice-born accepted them.
Then all those brāhmaṇas, together with the best of the Kurus, assembled.
Now that the place is entirely filled with temples, what shall we say now?
Therefore, let your honors perform as you wish, according to seniority, excellence, and individual distinction.
Then, filled with joy, Dhṛtarāṣṭra and the others, in order,
Thus, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, in the section of eighty-one thousand verses, in the sixth Nāgara-khaṇḍa, in the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara-kshetra, the seventy-third chapter named 'The Description of the Effort by Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Others to Establish Temples' is concluded.
There, a hundred and one liṅgas were established, O twice-born ones.
Likewise, by all the Pāṇḍavas, five liṅgas were established.
By Bhānumatī also, four liṅgas of Gaurī were established.
By Bāhlīka with his son, and by Karṇa with his son,
By Aśvatthāman, separately, each one established an excellent liṅga.
Likewise, there, Viṣṇu the mighty established one.
Also by Sātvata, Sāmba, and the wise Balabhadra.
By Cārudeṣṇa and others, by Rukmiṇī's ten sons.
In this way, having established the liṅgas, all the Kurus, Pāṇḍavas, and Yādavas became very delighted and felt their purpose fulfilled at that time.
There, having remained for a long time, he gave many gifts repeatedly.
He gave them excellent elephants, as well as many other gifts according to their caste.
He also gave great bulls, fine garments, plots of land, and places of shelter.
Then, having addressed them all and bowed down again and again,
In this way, by Dhritarashtra, the liṅga that destroys sins was established.
Whoever properly worships those with devotion and faith—
Thus ends the seventy-fourth chapter, named 'The Account of the Installation of the Liṅga by the Kauravas, Pāṇḍavas, and Yādavas,' in the section on the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara Kṣetra, in the sixth Nāgara Khaṇḍa of the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, comprising eighty-one thousand verses.
Given by Rudra to Brahmā, when he was pleased, O best of twice-born,
When the liṅga named Hāṭakeśvara was established,
At that time, this field was given by Śambhu to Ṣaṇmukha.
At Brahmā's request, this most excellent and original place was given by him himself.
Whoever beholds the Lord there during Kārttikā, when the Kṛttikā stars are in conjunction,
The temple of the god Mahāsena is exceedingly beautiful.
Hearing this, all the gods came quickly out of curiosity.
