For a thousand years, Śūlin was absorbed in pleasure.
Therefore, let us go to the place where the great god Maheśvara is.
Then all the gods, along with Indra, gathered there.
Having reached Kailāsa, they proceeded to Bhavānī's abode.
In secret, the Blessed One was together with Pārvatī.
Then all the gods sent Anila to that place.
Then Vāyu went to where the blessed Śiva was.
Then, when Śukra was disturbed from his place, not having attained his origin,
At that moment, shame arose and he stood up.
Then he addressed Vāyu, who stood there humbly and respectfully.
Discouraged by Tāraka, they remain at the mountain's base.
Therefore, after speaking to them and kindly reassuring them,
Then, at that very moment, Tripurāntaka summoned them.
When Śukra was disturbed from his place, his effort was rendered futile by the wind.
This energy, by my steadfastness, was restrained within the midst of the liṅga.
By this, a son is born who is the supreme destroyer of the Dānavas.
No one else is able to bear this, which is like the fire at the end of an age.
Therefore, I release it there for the sake of a son and for victory.
Then all the gods, with great respect, praised Agni.
Immediately, Agni extended his mouth.
Śaṃkara, tormented by the arrows of desire, also cast it there.
Agni too was greatly afflicted by it, which was like the fire at the end of an age.
Meanwhile, they arrived, wandering here and there.
Then Śatakratu himself instructed them.
Here, a son will be born, radiant as twelve suns.
Thus ends the seventieth chapter, called 'The Account of the Birth of Kārtikeya,' in the section on the greatness of the Hāṭakeśvara field, in the sixth book, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
All the prescribed rites for the lying-in chamber were performed for him.
Then, on another day, the boy shone with the radiance of twelve suns.
As soon as he was born, he cried out in great distress.
Mahāsena, seeing those Mothers who had approached,
