Then, taking the gold and abandoning her, covered in blood,
Because she had touched Pārvatī, she was then cut into pieces.
Beautiful as the ocean, adorned with clusters of lotuses,
It was frequented by many swans, cranes, and chakravāka birds all around.

Thus, as she worshipped the goddess, daughter of the mountain,
Her face was marked by wrinkles, her hair streaked with gray.
Then, at some point in time, for the sake of testing her,
She appeared radiant as nectar, shining like the sun, resembling the peak of Kailasa.
Surrounded by women, she took her place, facing every direction of the gods.
A pale parasol was held above her head.
As the Gandharvas sang, she then spoke with respect.
Now, satisfied by your abundant austerity, I myself have come to you in the three worlds, showing you compassion.

So too, without doubt, do the queens of the other gods.
Even if I must go to the terrible hell, O beloved of Indra,
She is endowed with knowledge and sovereignty, without beginning, middle, or end.
She is worshipped by Vishnu, Brahma, Rudra, and Vasava.
By her, all this—the three worlds, with moving and unmoving beings—is pervaded.
The gods, demons, and serpents once obeyed my command.
Even the Kinnaras, Guhyakas, and Yakshas did so—how much more, then, should mortals who follow dharma?
Therefore, I shall surely shatter your head with a blow of the thunderbolt.
Steadying himself with courage, he again addressed the queen of the gods.
