Whatever merit is gained elsewhere by ascetics in a year,
Thinking thus, I always bathed the linga with milk.
I brought my herd, my companions, my own people, and other friends.
This sacred place I had previously heard about from the mouths of Brahmins.
Absorbed in royal duties and pleasures, O Nandini,
By fate, that great-souled sage gave me a curse.
Remaining there, I meditated on that linga day and night.
For its sake, I built a splendid temple, wondrous to behold.
Then, by its power, O twice-born, in just a few days—
There, whoever offers a lamp in the month of Kartika, and when Margashirsha arrives, engages in singing, dancing, and the like—
All this has been told to you, which destroys every sin.
Whoever recites this with devotion, endowed with supreme faith—
Having constructed a most excellent temple, delightful to the sight of the virtuous,
In front of it, a beautiful pond was also made there.
Whoever bathes there with devotion and, composed, beholds those two,
On its eastern side, near the Agastya pond,
Whoever bathes there in the month of Phalguna,
On its southern side, there is the river Kapila.
To the east of the Kapila is the place renowned as Siddha-kshetra.
Whoever, desiring any wish, performs austerity there,
Below that, O Brahmins, is a sacred Vaishnava stone.
Always washed by the waters of the great river, it grants liberation to people.
In front of it flows the Triveni, bestowing enjoyment and liberation.
Surely, liberation comes to those whose funeral ashes reach the cow’s hoofprint there.
On its northern side, O best of Brahmins, is Rudrakoti.
In the form of a great yogi, O best of southern Brahmins,
Then, filled with curiosity and endowed with supreme faith,
I will see that Hara first, I will see him before all others.
Among them, whoever beholds that great yogi, the Lord,
Then, knowing their intention, the god Maheshvara—
