सुवर्णं पतितं हस्तान्न च लब्धं कथंचन
The gold that had fallen from his hands was not recovered in any way.
नात्र नाशोऽस्ति राजेन्द्र इह लोके परत्र च
O king of kings, there is no loss here, neither in this world nor the next.
अत्र कोटिगुणं जातं सुवर्णं यत्पुरातनम्
Here, the ancient gold has multiplied a crore-fold.
तस्मात्संख्या च संजाता तथैवाकल्पितस्य च यत्नाच्छ्राद्धं करिष्यंति सुवर्णं च विशेषतः ॥ 7.3.26.
Therefore, the reckoning has arisen, and so also for what is not measured; with effort, they should perform śrāddha, especially with gold.
ब्राह्मणेभ्यः प्रदास्यंति संख्या तस्य न विद्यते
They will give to the Brāhmaṇas, and its measure is without limit.
स श्रुत्वा भारती तत्र ह्याकाशादुत्थितां नृप
Hearing this, O king, the goddess of speech arose there from the sky.
शुभ्रं कोटिगुणं प्राज्यं ततस्तुष्टिं समागतः प्रददौ च दयायुक्त उद्दिश्य पितृदेवताः
Then, having attained satisfaction, he gave a pure, exceedingly great gift, endowed with compassion, dedicated to the ancestors and the gods.
ततस्तस्य प्रभावेण स दानस्य महीपतिः
Then, by the power of that gift, that king—
तत्र यः कुरुते श्राद्धं ग्रहे सूर्यस्य भूमिप
Whoever performs a śrāddha there at the time of the sun's transit, O king—
स्नानेन ऋषयो देवास्तुष्टिं यांति महोरगाः
By bathing, the sages, the gods, and the great serpents attain satisfaction.
तस्मात्सर्वप्रयत्नेन स्नानं तत्र समाचरेत्
Therefore, with every effort, one should perform bathing there.
इति श्रीस्कांदे महापुराण एकाशीतिसाहस्र्यां संहितायां सप्तमे प्रभासखण्डे तृतीयेऽर्बुदखंडे कनखलतीर्थमाहात्म्यवर्णनंनाम षङ्विंशोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the twenty-sixth chapter, named 'The Greatness of Kanakhala Tīrtha,' in the third Arbuda section of the seventh Prabhāsa book, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
यत्र चक्रं पुरा मुक्तं विष्णुना प्रभविष्णुना
Where, in ancient times, the mighty Viṣṇu released the discus—
निहत्य दानवान्संख्ये कृत्वा स्नानं सुनिर्झरे
Having slain the Dānavas in battle, he bathed in the pure stream.
तत्र श्राद्धं तु यः कुर्याच्छयने बोधने हरेः
There, whoever performs a śrāddha during the sleeping or awakening of Hari—
इति श्रीस्कांदे महापुराण एकाशीतिसाहस्र्यां संहितायां सप्तमे प्रभासखण्डे तृतीयेऽर्बुदखंडे चक्रतीर्थप्रभाववर्णनंनाम सप्तविंशोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the twenty-seventh chapter, named 'The Greatness of Cakra Tīrtha,' in the third Arbuda section of the seventh Prabhāsa book, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
यत्र स्नातो नरः सम्यङ्मनुष्यो जायते सदा
Wherever a man bathes there properly, he is always born as a human.
न तिर्यक्त्वमवाप्नोति कृत्वाऽपि बहुपातकम्
He does not attain an animal birth, even if he has committed many sins.
मृगयूथमनुप्राप्त व्याधव्याप्तं समन्ततः
A herd of deer, surrounded on all sides by hunters—
सद्यो मनुष्यतां प्राप्ताः पूर्वजातिस्मरास्तथा
At once attained human birth, and also remembered their former lives.
चापबाणधराः सर्वे यथा वै यमकिंकराः
All bearing bows and arrows, just like the servants of Yama.
मृगयूथमनु प्राप्तमस्मिन्स्थाने जलाश्रये वयं सर्वे परिश्रांताः क्षुत्तृड्भ्यां च विशेषतः
Having reached this place, a water sanctuary, along with the herd of deer, we are all exhausted, especially from hunger and thirst.
तीर्थस्यास्य प्रभावेण सत्यमेतदसंशयम्
By the power of this sacred place, this is true without any doubt.
कृत्वा स्नानं जले तस्मिन्सद्यः सिद्धिं गता नृप
Having bathed in those waters, O King, one immediately attains success.
ततः शक्रस्तु तद्दृष्ट्वा तीर्थं पापहरं नृप
Then, O King, when Indra saw that sacred place which removes sin,
अद्यापि मनुजास्तत्र बुधाष्टम्यां नराधिप 7.3.28.
Even today, O ruler of men, people go there on the eighth lunar day with understanding.
पितृमेधफलं कृत्स्नं श्राद्धदानादवाप्नुयुः
They obtain the full fruit of ancestral rites, as from śrāddha and gifts.
इति श्रीस्कांदे महापुराण एकाशीतिसाहस्र्यां संहितायां सप्तमे प्रभासखण्डे तृतीयेऽर्बुदखंडे मनुष्यतीर्थप्रभाव वर्णनंनामाष्टाविंशोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the twenty-eighth chapter named 'The Description of the Power of Manuṣya-tīrtha,' in the third section called Arbuda-khaṇḍa, of the seventh Prabhāsa-khaṇḍa, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Mahāpurāṇa of glorious Skanda.
यत्र स्नातो नरः सम्यङ्मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषैः
Wherever a man bathes properly, he is freed from all sins.
पुराऽभून्नृपतिर्नाम सुप्रभः परवीरहा
Long ago there was a king named Suprabha, destroyer of enemy heroes.
