For this reason, O tiger, I lament, greatly afflicted by sorrow.
Therefore, great tiger, release me at once, for I am devoted to my child.
If you go back there again, then I will devour you.
Hear these words from my mouth and then act accordingly.
Whatever sin arises from killing a Brahmin or deceiving one's mother and father,
From exposing those engaged in bathing, or those who have intercourse during the day,
From associating with menstruating women, or from sleeping naked,
From betraying trust, or from being ungrateful,
From violating cowherd girls, Brahmins, or others,

Thus ends the fiftieth chapter, entitled 'The Dialogue between the Cow and the Tiger,' in the section on the greatness of the shrine of Kalaśeśvara, within the account of the holy Haṭakeśvara region, in the sixth book (Nāgarakhaṇḍa) of the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
Believing it to be true, he again spoke to Nandinī, who was fond of her child.
If this is so, then go to your house and see your own son.
Go to the dwelling where your young son is present.
Then, seeing his mother arrive at an unusual time, the child became fearful in his heart.
Why have you come at this hour, and why is your mind so disturbed?

Because you are anxious, I will tell you everything that happened.
She smelled his head, and then quickly spoke.
Tell me everything that happened today in the forest.
There, I was seized by a tiger as I wandered here and there.
O son, as he was about to devour me with his claws and fangs, I pleaded with him.
By making many solemn promises, I was released by him.
Indeed, it would be praiseworthy for me to die now before my mother.
Even if alone, I must die, having been separated from you.
If, mother, the tiger kills me while you are with me—
There is no relative equal to a mother for children who live on milk.
There is none worthy of honor like a mother, nor is there a friend like a mother.
Thinking thus, a son should always show the highest devotion to his mother; those sons who do so attain the supreme state.
