That king, having obtained a boon and then a curse,
Gaurī and Maheśvara, seated together on one seat,
The king gave special gifts to the brāhmaṇas.
Then, at the end of the year, the blessed Lord Vṛṣabhadhvaja—
Then that king, with both of them, performed the prescribed rites simultaneously.
Once, O goddess, in Ānanda city, with a troubled mind,
O goddess, you who always bear half the body of the trident-holder—
Whoever bows to that Lord of gods, by him you are always bowed to; when you are bowed to, the Lord of gods is also bowed to—this is my conviction.
Nevertheless, I have also bowed to you separately.
Therefore, grant me the favor that was previously mentioned by the enemy of Tripura.
By her, a son who upholds the lineage, long-lived and steadfast in valor, is obtained.
Therefore, even though your son is still a child, he will reach his end.
But after showing you the sorrow arising from his early death—
He will then become long-lived, victorious, and a sustainer of the lineage.
Therefore, O king, go to your palace and rule the kingdom as you desire.
Any other man who worships me in this form—
To him also I shall grant sons according to his heart's desire.
Śrī Mahādeva said: Once again, O best of kings, ask from me whatever you wish.
Even the son you gave up will be granted to you, a victorious upholder of the lineage.
Yet your command must never be disregarded or made futile in any way.
Our mind is always set on performing the Rājasūya sacrifice.
That sacrifice is accomplished by all those kings who have been made tributaries.
Therefore, your well-wishers restrain me from seeking battle.
Thus, by your favor, the Rājasūya will become a successful sacrifice.
That king, having received the boon, returned to his own palace.
Thus, by that king in former times, those two were established there.
Whoever worships those two on the fifth day, obtains the desired son, capable of upholding his own lineage.
Sūta said: There itself, on the bank of the lake, stands a place of great merit.
By seeing Kalaśeśvara, a person is freed from sins.
Long ago, there was a king named Kalaśa, born in the lineage of Yadu.
