He who, for four months, worships Viṣṇu as he lies upon the waters, observing the vow in full accordance with scriptural injunctions,
In this way, on the second day, for four months, one should worship Hari.
Seeing him endowed with radiance, Janārdana, pleased together with all the hosts of gods, will grant you victory.
Without you, I will not go, even with all the other gods.
He will go to slay my enemies, those who hate the gods.
Having spoken thus, Hari released the Sudarśana discus.
Indra too, going together with it, destroyed everything with the discus.
And Bāṣkali too was completely cut down by that discus.
Likewise, many other mighty Dānavas, proud of their strength, were also slain.
Those gods, Indra and the rest, rejoicing and free from doubt, said: 'By your power, O Lord of gods, all the enemies of the immortals have been slain.'
Therefore, tell me what is to be done, and what will bring me the highest good.
For the welfare of all the worlds, in the sacred lake, the abode of holy waters—
Therefore, O Lord of Śacī, you should meet with me there for the Cāturmāsya observance.
O Thousand-eyed one, those who do not undertake this will not be your companions.
Any other person who worships me here with devotion—
Therefore, go, O Thousand-eyed one, rule in heaven; when the appointed time comes, act accordingly in Śvetadvīpa.
Vāsudeva, too, remains there for the welfare of the worlds.
Thus, O best of twice-born, Janārdana, who rests on the waters, is present there.
Whoever worships him there with devotion, endowed with supreme faith—
In the same way, by all the hosts of gods, Dvārakā was established there.
Even at the end of life, a mortal attains the desires held in the mind; at all times, and especially during the Cāturmāsya.
All this has been told to you, which destroys all sins.
Thus, in the glorious Skanda Purāṇa, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse collection, in the sixth Nāgara section, in the greatness of the sacred place of Śrī Hāṭakeśvara, this is the forty-first chapter, named 'The Account of the Origin of the One Who Rests on the Waters.'
It remains, O best of twice-born, as the giver of all desires.
There, when a person bathes on the third day of the bright half of Caitra—
Or a woman, endowed with faith, having bathed there, becomes fruitful in offspring.
The sages said: At what time was the tīrtha of that sage established there?
He, having renounced, was established on the earth by his greatness.
There, the divine river Gaṅgā herself is established.
Whoever performs śrāddha there, with intention for the ancestors—
