Then those Brahmins, learning that the land was given by Suśīla,
All those twice-born, filled with anger, turned against Suśīla.
Then, having approached the one by whom they were cursed, they spoke.
Therefore, you too shall remain outside of us.
This ascetic is also wicked, who builds a temple to Shiva; he shall never attain success, even in a hundred years.
Thus, in the world, the deeds of those who bring fame are celebrated by people.
This one will be known by your name as 'Duḥśīla,' the one of bad conduct.
Because we have been deprived of friendship by him, O twice-born ones,
Therefore, this wicked soul will also become one who is subject to anger.
Having spoken thus, those brahmins, their eyes reddened with anger,
Duḥśīla also cast out his house and the city.
All those born in his lineage are also declared to be outsiders.
Durvāsas, his eyes reddened with anger, spoke to Duḥśīla.
My mantras have attained success; they are capable of destroying enemies.
Therefore, this entire city, along with its animals and birds,
For the sake of the brahmins, and especially for a brahmin,
Whether killing, cursing, or speaking harshly,
He who considers himself victorious, though conquered by brahmins,
He should endure defeat at the hands of a brahmin.
In the field of these foremost brahmins, success has been attained.
To the killer of a Brahmin, to the drinker of liquor, to the thief, and to the breaker of vows—
Therefore, anger should not be harbored by those who are established in this sacred place.
He attained the highest accomplishment, which is difficult even for the gods to obtain.
Even that one, known on earth as of bad conduct, became renowned as Prasada.
A man who worships the linga situated at its center on the bright eighth day—
He built a temple entirely adorned with every kind of jewel, exceedingly beautiful.
There, establishing the foremost hermitage, he performed extremely severe austerities.
A pond was constructed there by that great soul, situated nearby.
There, after bathing, the best of men should behold Dhundhumāreśvara.
At what time did that great soul perform his austerities here?
