He too, seeing that discus hurled from Vāsudeva’s hand,
The great Daitya seized it and said, 'Stand, stand!'
Then the wielder of the discus was struck by the Daitya, who had seized the discus,
At that moment, the blessed Tripurāntaka, enraged,
Then, with a blow from his trident, he slew that son of Danu,
Kālaprabha, Prakāla, Kālāsya, and Kālavigraha,
Then all those principal and fierce Dānavas,
Then Indra and Viṣṇu, regaining consciousness and taking up their weapons,
Meanwhile, seeing the sons of Danu defeated,
Then those Daityas, most of whom had been slain, but the stronger ones remained,
Entered, by their minds alone, the abode of Varuṇa, which is otherwise inaccessible.
All of them, their hearts rejoicing, praised the great god Maheśvara.
And then, released by him, they bowed again and again.
Those tiger-like Dānavas, too, having lost hope due to the best of the gods,
As they deliberated among themselves, this decision was reached.
Therefore, those who are ascetics and those who are devoted to sacrifice—
Thus, having made this resolve, they emerged from Varuṇa’s abode.
Wherever there might be a sacrifice, a session, or a festival,
By them, sacrifices were destroyed, the initiated were slain; a thousand of the foremost Brāhmaṇas were devoured by those wicked ones.
And hundreds of thousands of twice-born were killed.
At that very time, the entire surface of the earth—
No one would lie down to sleep at night upon the earth.
Those who did sleep at night, trusting and devoted to righteousness,
Then all the hosts of gods, deprived of their shares of sacrifice,
After that, they went to the ocean’s edge to destroy the haters of the gods.
Then, deeply distressed, they devised a mantra for the destruction of the ocean.
Without Agastya, this ocean will not be dried up.
In the sacred field of Camatkārapura, that great sage resides.
Thus deciding, all the gods went to his hermitage.
He too, seeing all those excellent gods who had arrived,
