Nor does the demon Bāṣkala go forth; you must do likewise.
Leaving your own sandals there, place them upon the stone that has arisen.
When the sandals were set down for the protection of Bāṣkala, the gods—
Oppressed by the weight of my sandals, that demon, O best of gods, cannot move.
This entire teaching has been composed by me for the sake of the sandals.
Whoever, with devotion, follows my sandals by this path of scripture—
On the fourteenth day of the bright half of Caitra, I am always here on Arbuda.
This mountain is dear to me; my mind did not incline to abandon it.
Praised, she went to heaven, leaving behind those auspicious sandals.
Even today, yogis intent on meditation attain perfection here.
All this has been told to you, just as you have asked me.
But whoever recites this with devotion, or praises it—such a man—
That which previously became renowned among the group of servants,
Long ago, O King, there was a washerman named Śamilākṣa.
Then, having realized the disgrace concerning the clothes, he became afraid.
O King, his daughter, who was a friend of the servant-girls and auspicious,
He informed her of the fear that had arisen from the matter of the clothes.
The servant-girl too, sharing in her sorrow, was distressed.
Surely, by this very act, you and your father will be free from fear.
Here, O beautiful one with lovely brows, there is a waterfall in Arbuda.
And whatever else is cast into that pure water there,
By immersing all the servants' garments in that water, they are quickly cleansed and become very white.
You should not be afraid here; go and restrain your father.
The daughter quickly informed her father, and he became satisfied.
Rising early in the morning, he quickly approached that waterfall.
There, after being in the water, many garments attained whiteness.
Then, filled with amazement, he swiftly took them up.
Amazed, the king then came to that waterfall.
All the garments become white and excellent there.
Abandoning his kingdom, the king performed austerities right there.
