ततः शैलेश्वरकथा रत्नेशस्य च दर्शनम्
Then, the tale of Śaileśvara, and the vision of Ratneśa.
देवतानामधिष्ठानं दुर्गासुरपराक्रमः
The abodes of the deities, and the valor of Durgā against the demon.
पुनरोंकारमाहात्म्यं त्रिलोचनसमुद्भवः
Again, the greatness of Oṃkāra, and the origin of the three-eyed one.
ततो धर्मेशमहिमा ततः पक्षिकथा शुभा
Then, the greatness of Dharmesha, and after that, the auspicious tale of the birds.
ततो वीरेश्वराख्यानं वीरेश महिमा पुनः
Then, the story of Vīreśvara, and again the greatness of Vīreśa.
विश्वकर्मेश महिमा दक्षयज्ञसमुद्भवः 4.2.100.
The greatness of Viśvakarmeśa, and the origin of the sacrifice of Dakṣa.
ततो वै पार्वतीशस्य महिम्नः परिकीर्तनम्
Then follows the praise of the greatness of the Lord of Pārvatī.
सतीश्वरसमुत्पत्तिरमृतेशादि वणर्नम्
The origin of Satīśvara, the account of Amṛteśa and others.
क्षेत्रतीर्थकदंबं च मुक्तिमंडप संकथा
The cluster of sacred fields and holy places, and the discourse on the pavilion of liberation.
एतदाख्यानशतकं क्रमेण परिकीर्तितम् अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायेप्यस्ति यात्रापरिक्रमः
This collection of a hundred narratives has been recounted in order; in the chapter of the table of contents, the circumambulation for pilgrimage is also described.
यात्रा परिक्रमं ब्रूहि जनानां हितकाम्यया
Speak of the circumambulation of the pilgrimage, desiring the welfare of the people.
यथा प्रथमतो यात्रा कर्तव्या यात्रिकैर्मुदा
How, at first, the pilgrimage should be joyfully undertaken by pilgrims.
सचैलमादौ संस्नाय चक्रपुष्करिणीजले
First, having bathed with clothes on in the water of the Cakra-puṣkariṇī.
आदित्यं द्रौपदीं विष्णुं दंडपाणिं महेश्वरम्
One should worship Āditya, Draupadī, Viṣṇu, Daṇḍapāṇi, and Maheśvara.
ज्ञानवापीमुपस्पृश्य नंदिकेशं ततोर्चयेत्
Touching the Jñāna-vāpī, one should then worship Nandikeśa.
ततः पुनर्दंडपाणिमित्येषा पंचतीर्थिका ।। 4.2.100.
Then again Daṇḍapāṇi; this is the fivefold pilgrimage.
दैनंदिनी विधातव्या महाफलमभीप्सुभिः
This daily rite should be performed by those who desire great merit.
द्विसप्तायतनानां च कार्या यात्रा प्रयत्नतः
The pilgrimage to the twice-seven shrines should be undertaken with effort.
अथवा प्रतिभूतं च क्षेत्रसिद्धिमभीप्सुभिः
Or, those desiring the accomplishment of the field may perform the pilgrimage as inspired.
मौनेन यात्रां कुर्वाणः फलं प्राप्नोति यात्रिकः
The pilgrim who undertakes the journey in silence attains the fruit.
त्रिविष्टपं महादेवं ततो वै कृत्तिवाससम्
Then to Triviṣṭapa, to Mahādeva, and then to Kṛttivāsa.
धर्मेश्वरं च वीरेशं गच्छेत्कामेश्वरं ततः
One should go to Dharmeśvara and Vīreśa, then to Kāmeśvara.
अविमुक्तेश्वरं दृष्ट्वा ततो विश्वेशमर्चयेत्
Having seen Avimukteśvara, one should then worship Viśveśa.
यस्तु क्षेत्रमुषित्वा तु नैतां यात्रां समाचरेत्
But whoever, having stayed in the field, does not perform this pilgrimage—
अष्टायतन यात्रान्या कर्तव्या विघ्रशांतये
Another pilgrimage to the eight shrines should be undertaken for the pacification of conflict.
गंगेशो नर्मदेशश्च गभस्तीशः सतीश्वरः 4.2.100.
These are Gaṅgeśa, Narmadeśa, Gabhastīśa, and Satīśvara.
दृश्यान्येतानि लिंगानि महापापोपशांतये
These liṅgas should be seen for the appeasement of great sins.
सर्वविघ्रोपहंत्री च कर्तव्या क्षेत्रवासिभिः
This pilgrimage, which removes all obstacles, should be performed by the residents of the sacred field.
स्नानं तु संगमे कृत्वा द्रष्टव्यः संगमेश्वरः
After bathing at the confluence, one should behold Saṃgameśvara.
स्नात्वा मंदाकिनी तीर्थे द्रष्टव्यो मध्यमेश्वरः
Having bathed at the Maṇḍākinī ford, one should see Madhyameśvara.
