The fruit of offering food is counted in the millions, each one precisely reckoned.
Here, I am the giver of all accomplishments to those who are devoted.
In this forest of bliss, O gods, I dwell freely.
I shall remain in the form of the liṅga, granting the fruits of desired aims; all come here always to behold this liṅga.
I abide in every liṅga, without any doubt.
Whoever sees this liṅga with faith and pure vision—
By hearing about this liṅga, the accumulated sins from birth are destroyed.
By remembering this liṅga, the sins acquired over two births are removed.
Upon leaving one's house with this liṅga in mind—
By seeing this liṅga, one attains the merit equal to a hundred horse sacrifices.
This liṅga of the self-born, O gods, belongs to me, the Lord of the universe.
By offering even a single flower, the reward is equal to that of a vessel of water.
By performing even a simple worship of this king of liṅgas with devotion—
By performing a great worship, preceded by the five nectars—
O Immortals, after bathing the liṅga with water purified by cloth,
and anointing the liṅga with fragrant sandalwood pastes with devotion,
and offering incense with delightful aromas, it becomes pervaded by divine fragrance.
By offering even once, with devotion, a lamp with a camphor wick,
and by giving only a simple food offering, whether with or without clarified butter, in every age,
Whoever offers to Viśveśa the finest food, with ghee and sugar,
whoever gives mouth-fresheners, a mirror, and a beautiful fly-whisk,
the number of the jewels in the ocean could perhaps be counted,
but not the merit of one who gives the materials for worship, such as a bell or water-pot.
Whoever, for My pleasure, arranges even one song, instrument, or dance,
or has paintings, drawings, or similar works made for Me in the temple,
A wise man, having bowed even once to Viśveśvara in the midst of life,
or whoever, having seen Viśveśvara, departs elsewhere and meets with misfortune,
the name Viśveśa on the tip of the tongue, or hearing the tales of Viśvanātha,
or whoever, seeing the liṅga of Viśvanātha, rejoices,
This great liṅga of Mine, O gods, is always most worthy of worship.
