"O Lord of All, all those who dwell here in the royal city, O best of twice-born—"
"Those who are devoted to rescuing others, those who fulfill the wishes of others—"
Hearing those words, his senses and mind became delighted.
Saying, "May the Lord of All be pleased," he departed as he had come.
But as soon as he went outside, he was insulted by many.
Indeed, he was a Chandala, cast out by all people.
Out of fear, he fled from the house like a blind man frightened by crows.
Once, reflecting, he was shunned by his wife and by people.
While walking along the road, he was noticed in the midst, carrying a golden ornament.
Then, robbers with their followers led him into the forest.
Indeed, all this abundant wealth decays when its possessor no longer lives.
Reflecting thus, they said to you: 'Remember this, O traveler.'
Hearing this, that twice-born one pondered in his mind and spoke.
Even the family was lost, and the gifts received were also lost.
All was suddenly lost at once due to misguided actions.
At the end, from remembering his family and likewise from recalling his home,
That hen and her two chicks attained the state of copper-crested birds.
Thus, after much time had passed, the foremost mendicants—
Loudly reciting the tale of Varanasi, conversed with one another.
By the power of recalling their past lives, and through that association, they departed.
Through offerings of rice and the like, they reached the supreme field.
Wandering about there, they approached the excellent pavilion of liberation.
Free from gain and delusion, through laughter and conversation about me,
Devoted to uttering my name, with ears attentive to stories dedicated to me,
Then they honored those hens who followed the virtuous path; gradually reducing their food, they will indeed give up their lives here.
O Vishnu, by my grace, as all the worlds look on,
Having enjoyed supreme divine pleasures for a long time,
From then on, people everywhere will recount those worlds.
Even those who remember their deeds, O men, shall indeed be blessed.
Thus, Śaṃbhu recited the tale of what will happen before Hari.
