Those who even take the name Amṛteśvara in Kāśī,
O sage, there is also another great liṅga called Karuṇeśvara.
By seeing that liṅga of the supremely compassionate one,
One should bathe at Maṇikarṇikā and behold Karuṇeśvara.
On attaining a Monday, one should observe the vow of taking only one meal.
Whenever Karuṇeśa is pleased by that vow,
Karuṇeśvara should be worshipped with those leaves or those fruits.
By worshipping in this way, may the Lord of compassion, the Lord of gods, be pleased.
When Karuṇeśa is pleased here, he will grant the desired boon.
Thus I have declared to you the greatest glory of Karuṇeśa.
There is also Mokṣadvāreśvara and Svargadvāreśvara.
Another liṅga, Jyotīrūpeśvara, shines forth in Kāśī.
On the bank of the Cakrapuṣkariṇī is the supreme Jyotīrūpeśvara.
When Bhāgīrathī Gaṅgā, the best of rivers, arrived there,
Long ago, when Viṣṇu performed austerities here, that liṅga manifested of its own accord.
On the bank of the Cakra Lake, the Lord of Light appeared at that time.
Among these liṅgas as well, O noble one, there are fourteen in number.
The liṅgas beginning with Oṃkāra, which have been mentioned, are fourteen.
Sadāśiva, in the form of thirty-six principles, abides in these liṅgas.
This is the true nature of the sacred field: the thirty-sixfold liṅga-form, indeed.
O sage, these liṅgas are certainly of a secret nature.
This Kāśī is the field of liberation, O wise one, because of these liṅgas.
This is the eternal field of Śambhu, called the Forest of Bliss.
Here indeed is the attainment of yoga, and here truly is the accomplishment of austerity.
The eightfold attainment, beginning with aṇimā, which has been described, is supreme.
This Forest of Bliss is the abode of the fortune of liberation.
This alone is the greatest gain; this alone is the highest austerity.
For one who is born, death will certainly occur somewhere, at some time.
Knowing that death is certain and follows the course of one's deeds and destiny—
Having attained human birth, those deluded ones waste their brief lives in a moment.
