यथार्थितं तथा कर्तुं ते सामर्थ्यं भविष्यति
You shall have the ability to accomplish whatever you desire.
अन्यान्वरांश्च ते दद्यां त्वाष्ट्र तुष्टस्त्वदर्चया
O son of Tvaṣṭṛ, pleased by your worship, I shall grant you other boons as well.
त्वं सुवर्णादिधातूनां दारूणां दृषदामपि
You shall be able to work with gold and other metals, with wood, and with stones.
कर्पूरादिसुगंधीनां द्रव्याणामप्यपामपि
Also with fragrant substances like camphor, and with liquids as well.
सर्वेषां वस्तुजातानां कर्तुं कर्म प्रवेत्स्यसि
You shall be able to perform work with all kinds of materials.
तस्य तस्येह तुष्ट्यै त्वं तथा कर्तुं प्रवेत्स्यसि
And here, for the satisfaction of each and every one, you shall act accordingly.
सर्वाणि शिल्पकार्याणि तौर्यत्रिकमथापि च
All works of craftsmanship, and also the arts of music and dance,
नानाविधानि यंत्राणि नानायुधविधानकम्
Various kinds of machines, and the making of diverse weapons—
तादृक्कर्तुं पुरा वेत्सि यादृङ्नान्योऽधियास्यति 4.2.86.
You alone knew how to create such things in ancient times, as no one else will ever learn.
सर्वेंद्रजालिकी विद्या त्वदधीना भविष्यति
All magical arts of illusion will be under your command.
सर्वेषां च मनोवृत्तिं त्वं ज्ञास्यसि वरान्मम
You will know the thoughts of all beings, by my special favor.
अतिलोकोत्तरं कर्म तत्सर्वं वेत्स्यसि स्वयम्
All those deeds that are exceedingly extraordinary, you will know them yourself.
विश्वेषां विश्वकर्माणि विश्वेषु भुवनेषु च
You are the maker of all things in all worlds.
अपरः को वरो देयस्तव तं प्रार्थयाश्वहो
What other boon remains to be given to you? Ask for that, O swift one.
अन्यत्रापि हि यो लिंगं समर्चयति सन्मतिः
Elsewhere too, whoever worships the liṅga with pure mind—
येन काश्यां समभ्यर्चि येन काश्यां प्रतिष्ठितम्
Whoever worshipped in Kāśī, whoever established it in Kāśī—
तत्त्वं स्वच्छोसि मुकुरो मम नेत्रत्रयस्य हि
You are the pure essence, the mirror of my three eyes.
काश्यां यो राजधान्यां मे हित्वा मामन्यमर्चयेत्
Whoever, in my royal city Kāśī, forsakes me and worships another—
तदानंदवनेह्यत्र समर्च्योहं मुमुक्षुभिः 4.2.86.
Let him come here to Ānandavana; here, I am worshipped by those who seek liberation.
यथानंदवनं प्राप्य त्वं मामर्चितवानसि
Just as, having reached Ānandavana, you have worshipped me—
अनुग्राह्योऽसि नितरां ततो वरय दुर्लभम्
You are indeed most worthy of my favor; therefore, ask for a rare boon.
तल्लिंगमन्येप्याराध्य संतु समृद्धिभाजनम्
Let others too, by worshipping that liṅga, become vessels of prosperity.
अन्यच्च नाथ प्रार्थ्योसि तच्च विश्राणयिष्यसि
And whatever else, O Lord, you desire, that too shall be granted.
देवदेव उवाच एवमस्तु यदुक्तं ते तव लिंगसमर्चकाः
The God of gods said: So be it, as you have spoken—those who worship your liṅga—
यदा च राजा भविता दिवोदासो विधेर्वरात्
And when the king Divodāsa is born, by the boon of fate,
नवीकृत्य पुनः काशी निर्विष्टा तेन भूभुजा
He will renew Kāśī, and that land will be settled by that ruler.
विष्णोः सदुपदेशाच्च मामेव शरणं गतः
By the true instruction of Viṣṇu, he will take refuge in me alone.
विश्वकर्मन्व्रज गुरोः शासनाय यतस्व च
Go, Viśvakarman, and strive to carry out the command of the Guru.
ये गुरुं चावमन्यंते तेवमान्या मयाप्यहो 4.2.86.
Those who disrespect the Guru are not to be respected by me either, alas.
ममार्च्यमविमुक्ताख्यं ततो देवि ममा ख्यकम् 4.2.86.
My worshipful form called Avimukta, O goddess, is therefore renowned as mine.
