दिवोदासस्य वै तीर्थं तत्र राज्ञोऽतिमेधसः
There is also the sacred site of King Divodāsa, who was endowed with great wisdom.
ततोपि हि महातीर्थं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्
Beyond that is indeed a great pilgrimage place, the destroyer of all sins.
स्नात्वा भागीरथी तीर्थे कृत्वा श्राद्धं विधानवित् 4.2.83.
One who bathes at the Bhāgīrathī ford and performs the ancestral rite according to rule—
हरपापं च भो वीर तीर्थं भागीरथीतटे
O hero, the holy place called Harapāpa is also on the bank of the Bhāgīrathī.
यो निष्पापेश्वरं लिंगं तत्र पश्यति मानवः
A person who beholds the sinless Lord's liṅga there—
दशाश्वमेधतीर्थं च ततोपि प्रवरं मतम् ।। दशानामश्वमेधानां यत्र स्नात्वा फलं लभेत्
There is also the Daśāśvamedha ford, considered the foremost; where, by bathing, one obtains the fruit of ten Aśvamedha sacrifices.
ततोपि शुभदं वीर बंदीतीर्थं प्रचक्षते
Beyond that, O hero, is the auspicious Baṃdī ford, as it is called.
हिरण्याक्षेण दैत्येन बहुशो देवताः पुरा
Long ago, the gods were repeatedly bound by the demon Hiraṇyākṣa.
ततो विशृंखलीभूतैर्वंदिता यज्जगज्जनिः
Then, when they were set free, the mother of the world was praised.
बंदीतीर्थस्तु तत्रैव महानिगडखंडनम्
There, at the Baṃdī ford, the great shattering of fetters took place.
बंदीतीर्थं महाश्रेष्ठं काशिपुर्यां विशांपते
The Baṃdī ford, most excellent, is in Kāśī city, O lord of men.
ततोपि हि श्रेष्ठतरं प्रयागमिति विश्रुतम्
Beyond that, indeed, is the even more excellent Prayāga, renowned by name.
क्षोणीवराहतीर्थं च ततोपि शुभदं परम् 4.2.83.
Beyond that is the Kṣoṇīvarāha ford, most auspicious and supreme.
ततः कालेश्वरं तीर्थं वीरश्रेष्ठतरं परम्
Then comes the Kāleśvara ford, O hero, most excellent and supreme.
अशोकतीर्थं तत्रैव ततोप्यतितरां शुभम्
There, too, is the Aśoka ford, even more auspicious.
ततोति निर्मलतरं शुक्रतीर्थं नृपांगज
Beyond that, O prince, is the Śukra ford, purer still.
ततोऽपि पुण्यदं राजन्भवानीतीर्थमुत्तमम्
After that, O King, is the most excellent Bhavānī Tīrtha, which bestows great merit.
प्रभासतीर्थं विख्यातं ततोपि शुभदं नृणाम्
Then comes the renowned Prabhāsa Tīrtha, which also brings auspiciousness to people.
ततो गरुडतीर्थं च संसारविषनाशनम्
After that is Garuḍa Tīrtha, which destroys the poison of worldly existence.
ब्रह्मतीर्थं ततः पुण्यं वीरब्रह्मेश्वरात्पुरः
Then comes the sacred Brahma Tīrtha, situated before Vīrabrahmeśvara.
ततो वृद्धार्कतीर्थं च विधितीर्थं ततः परम्
After that is Vṛddhārka Tīrtha, and then the superior Vidhi Tīrtha.
ततो नृसिंहतीर्थं च महाभयनिवारणम्
Then comes Nṛsiṃha Tīrtha, which removes great fear.
ततोपि पुण्यदं नृणां तीर्थं चित्ररथेश्वरम् 4.2.83.१ ०
After that, the meritorious Citraratheśvara Tīrtha, which bestows merit upon people.
तत्राल्पमपि यच्छेद्यत्कल्पांतेप्यक्षयं हि तत् 4.2.83.
Whatever little is given there, even at the end of an age, is truly inexhaustible.
अप्येकं यो महारुद्रं जपेद्वीरेश सन्निधौ 4.2.83.
Even one who recites the Mahārudra hymn once in the presence of Vīreśa—
इति श्रुत्वा महेशानो महीप तनयोदितम्
Having heard thus, O King, Maheśāna listened to what the prince had spoken.
आकर्णय क्षोणिसुर यथा स्थाणुरचीकरत्
Hear now, O lord of the earth, how Sthāṇu performed his acts.
संगमे तत्र निष्णातः संगमेशं समर्च्य च
There, having bathed at the confluence and worshipped Saṃgameśa—
तत्र पादोदकं तीर्थं यत्र देवेन शार्ङ्गिणा
There is the tīrtha of the water from the feet, where the god with the Śārṅga bow performed ablutions.
विप्णुपादोदके तीर्थे वारिकार्यं करोति यः
Whoever performs water rites at the tīrtha of Viṣṇu's foot-water—
