शिवोक्तं च समाकर्ण्य वरदानं पुनःपुनः
And hearing again and again Śiva’s words granting boons—
तदत्र भवता स्थेयं भवतापहृता सदा
Therefore, you must remain here, always removing the sufferings of beings.
अस्मिँल्लिंगे स्थितः शंभो कुरु भक्तसमीहितम् 4.2.83.
Abide in this liṅga, O Śambhu, and fulfill the wishes of the devotees.
दिश सिद्धिं परामत्र दर्शनात्स्पर्शनान्नतेः
Grant supreme success here, by sight, by touch, and by reverence.
सदैवानुग्रहस्तेषु कर्तव्यो वर एष मे
You must always bestow grace upon them; this is my boon.
एवमस्तु यदुक्तं ते वीरवैष्णव सूनुना
So be it, as spoken by you, O son of the heroic Vaiṣṇava.
विष्ण्वंश एवमुत्पन्नो मम भक्तिपरांगज
Born in the lineage of Viṣṇu, he is devoted to me above all.
काश्यां दास्यत्यभीष्टानि भक्तानां चिंतितान्यहो
In Kāśī, he will grant the cherished desires of the devotees, whatever they contemplate—indeed!
दास्यामि च परां सिद्धिमाश्रितेभ्यो न संशयः
And I will grant supreme success to those who take refuge—there is no doubt.
यस्तु वेत्स्यति भाग्येन स परां सिद्धिमाप्स्यति
Whoever knows this, through fortune, will attain supreme success.
जीर्णोद्धारादिकरणमक्षय्यफलहेतुकम्
Restoration of what is worn out brings inexhaustible rewards.
भुक्त्वा भोगांश्च विपुलानंते सिद्धिमवाप्स्यसि
After enjoying abundant pleasures, you will ultimately attain perfection.
पुण्यस्तत्रापि संभेदः सरितोरसि गंगयोः 4.2.83.
Even there, the merit is multiplied at the confluence of the rivers Ganga.
यत्र विष्णुर्हयग्रीवो भक्तचिंतितमर्पयेत्
Where Vishnu as Hayagriva offers what is desired by the devotee.
यत्र वै स्नानमात्रेण गजदानफलं लभेत्
Where, merely by bathing, one obtains the reward of giving an elephant.
कोकावराहमभ्यर्च्य तत्र नो जन्मभाग्जनः
Having worshipped Kokavara, no one born there is deprived of birth.
दिलीपतीर्थं सुश्रेष्ठं सद्यः पापहरं परम्
Dilipa's sacred place is most excellent, instantly removing sin to the highest degree.
यत्र मज्जन्नरो मज्जेन्न भूयो दुःखसागरे
Where a person who immerses himself does not again sink into the ocean of suffering.
सप्ताब्धिस्नानजं पुण्यं यत्र स्नात्वा नरो लभेत्
Where, by bathing, a person obtains the merit of bathing in the seven seas.
सकृद्यत्राप्लुतो धीमान्दहेदघमहोदधिम्
Where, by plunging just once, the wise man burns up the great ocean of sin.
पापं सुवर्णचौर्यादि यत्र स्नात्वा क्षयं व्रजेत्
Where, by bathing, sins such as gold theft are destroyed.
हंस स्वरूपी यत्राहं नयामि ब्रह्मदेहिनः
Where, in the form of a swan, I lead those embodied as Brahma.
ततस्त्रिभुवनाख्यस्य केशवस्याति पुण्यदम् 4.2.83.
Then comes the sacred place of Kesava, known as Tribhuvana, which bestows great merit.
गोव्याघ्रे श्वर तीर्थं च ततोप्यधिकमेव हि
The sacred place of Govyaghreshvara is even superior to that.
ततोपि हि वरं वीर तीर्थं मांधातुसंज्ञितम्
Even more excellent is the sacred place called Mandhata, O hero.
ततोपि मुचुकुंदाख्यं तीर्थं चातीव पुण्यदम्
Still greater is the sacred place named Mucukunda, which bestows abundant merit.
पृथु तीर्थं ततोप्युच्चैः श्रेयसां साधनं परम्
Prithu's sacred place is yet higher, the supreme means of attaining the best.
ततः परशुरामस्य तीर्थं चातीव सिद्धिदम् ।। यत्र क्षत्रवधात्पापाज्जामदग्न्यो विमुक्तवान्
Then comes the sacred place of Parashurama, which greatly grants perfection, where Jamadagni's son was freed from the sin of killing Kshatriyas.
अद्यापि क्षत्रवधजं पापं तत्र प्रणश्यति
Even today, the sin of the slaughter of warriors is destroyed there.
ततोपि श्रेयसां कर्तृ तीर्थं कृष्णाग्रजस्य हि
Beyond that is the holy place of Krishna's elder brother, the best among the virtuous.
