भवांबुधौ महागाधे प्राणिनः परिमज्जतः
In the vast ocean of existence, living beings are cleansed here.
सौभाग्यभाग्यभूर्या वै विख्याता मणिकर्णिका
Maṇikarṇikā is renowned as the abundant ground of fortune and misfortune.
महासमाधिसंपन्नैर्वेदांतार्थ निषेविभिः
Those endowed with great samādhi, devoted to the meaning of Vedānta, frequent it.
दीक्षितो वा दिवाकीर्तिः पंडितो वाप्यपंडितः
Whether initiated or famed, learned or unlearned,
यत्त्यागेन्यत्र कृपणस्तत्प्राप्य मणिकर्णिकाम्
Even the destitute, by renunciation, upon attaining Maṇikarṇikā,
यदि दैवादिह प्राप्तस्त्रिसंयोगोऽतिदुर्घटः
If by fate one arrives here, the triple conjunction is exceedingly rare.
शरीरमथ संपत्तिरथ सा मणिकर्णिका
Whether the body or wealth, or Maṇikarṇikā itself,
पुनः पुनर्विचार्येति जंतुमात्रेभ्य एव च 4.2.79.
Again and again this is considered, even among all creatures.
मुक्तिदा न मही सा मे वाराणस्यां महीयसी
That land does not grant liberation; my land in Vārāṇasī is most exalted.
परं लिंगार्चनस्थानमविमुक्तेश्वरेश्वरम्
The supreme place for worshipping the liṅga is Avimukta, lord of lords.
सायं पाशुपतीं संध्यां कुर्यां पशुपतीश्वरे
In the evening, I perform the Pāśupata twilight rite at the lord of beasts.
प्रातःसध्याकरोम्येव सदोंकारनिकेतने
In the morning, I perform the twilight rite at the abode of Om.
वसामि कृत्तिवासेहं सदा प्रति चतुर्दशि
I always dwell here with Kṛttivāsa, on every fourteenth day.
रत्नेश्वरोर्चितो दद्यान्महारत्नानि भक्तितः
One who worships Ratneśvara should offer great jewels with devotion.
विष्टपत्रितयांतःस्थोप्यहं लिंगे त्रिविष्टपे
I am established within the liṅga in the triple world, in Triviṣṭapa.
विरजस्कं महापीठं तत्र संसेव्य मानवः
There, a person should serve the spotless great seat.
पितृप्रीतिप्रदं पीठं वृषभध्वजसंज्ञकम् 4.2.79.
The seat named Vṛṣabhadhvaja bestows satisfaction upon the ancestors.
ममानुग्रहतः कीरानेतान्पश्य रवेः सुत 4.2.79.
By my favor, O son of the Sun, behold these parrots.
आरुह्यते न यानेन दिव्यरूपवराः खगाः
The excellent birds of divine form are not mounted by any vehicle.
उवाच शंभुं प्रणता प्रणतार्तिहरं परम्
She spoke to Śambhu, the supreme remover of the distress of those who bow to him.
तिरश्चामपि यज्जातं ज्ञानं संसारमोचनम्
Even the knowledge that arises among animals leads to liberation from saṃsāra.
अतः प्रभावं विज्ञाय धर्मपीठस्य धूर्जटे
Therefore, having understood the power of the seat of dharma, O Dhūrjaṭi,
अत्र लिंगे तु ये भक्ताः स्त्रियो वा पुरुषास्तु वा
Here, those who are devoted to this liṅga, whether women or men,
अस्येह धर्मपीठस्य मनोरथकृतः सताम्
The wishes made by the virtuous at this seat of dharma,
त एव विश्वभोक्तारो विश्वमान्यास्त एव हि
They alone are the enjoyers of the universe; they alone are honored in the world.
विश्वे विश्वभुजे विश्वस्थित्युत्पत्तिलयप्रदे
O universal Lord, supporter, and giver of creation, sustenance, and dissolution to the universe,
मनोरथतृतीयायां यस्ते भक्तिं विधास्यति
Whoever, in the third of the wishes, will establish devotion,
नारी वा पुरुषो वाथ त्वद्व्रताचरणात्प्रिये
Whether woman or man, by practicing your vow, O beloved,
किं फलं कैः कृतं नाथ कथयैतत्कृपां कुरु ।। 4.2.80.
What is the fruit, by whom is it accomplished, O Lord? Tell this, show your grace.
मनोरथव्रतं चैतद्गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं परम्
This vow of wishes is most secret, more secret than the secret itself.
