वशिष्ठं पुरतः कृत्वा सर्वसार्थसमायुतम्
Placing Vasiṣṭha at the front, accompanied by the entire group—
मत्परिग्रहतः सर्वे हरपापे कृतोदकाः
All, by accepting me, became purified from the sin of harming Śiva.
तदा प्रभृति लिंगेस्मिन्स्थितः साधकसिद्धये
From that time onward, I have remained in this liṅga for the accomplishment of practitioners.
तुषाराद्रिं समारुह्य केदारं वीक्ष्य यत्फलम्
Ascending Mount Tuṣāra and beholding Kedāra, the fruit obtained—
गौरीकुंडं यथा तत्र हंसतीर्थं च निर्मलम्
Just as there is there the lake of Gaurī and the pure Haṃsa-tīrtha—
इदं तीर्थं हरपापं सप्तजन्माघनाशनम्
This sacred place destroys the sins of harming Śiva and the accumulated demerit of seven births.
अत्र पूर्वं तु काकोलौ युध्यतौ खान्निपेततुः
Here, in ancient times, the crow and the owl fought and fell down while eating.
गौरि त्वया कृतं पूर्वं स्नानमत्र महाह्रदे 4.2.77.
O Gauri, it was you who once performed a bath here in this great lake.
अत्रामृतस्रवा गंगा महामोहांधकारहृत्
Here flows the Ganga, streaming with nectar, dispelling the great darkness of delusion.
सरसा मानसेनात्र पूर्वं तप्तं महातपः
Here, in former times, the great ascetic penance was performed by the sage Manasa at the lake.
अत्र पूर्वं जनः स्नानमात्रेणैव प्रमुच्यते
Here, in the past, people were liberated merely by bathing.
सर्वे मुक्तिं गमिष्यंति यदि देवेह मानवाः
All humans who worship the gods here will attain liberation.
सर्वेषामेव वर्णानामाश्रमाणां च धर्मिणाम्
All righteous people, of every class and stage of life,
ततस्तदुपरोधेन तथेति च मयोदितम्
Therefore, by my instruction, let it be so, and let there be no obstruction to this.
समर्चनाच्च भक्त्या वै मम नाम जपादपि
Even by worship, by devotion, or by reciting my name,
केदारतीर्थे यः स्नात्वा पिंडान्दास्यति चात्वरः
Whoever, after bathing at the Kedara ford, offers the funeral cakes at the crossroads,
भौमवारे यदा दर्शस्तदा यः श्राद्धदो नरः
On a Tuesday, when there is a new moon, whoever performs the ancestral rite,
केदारं गंतुकामस्य बुद्धिर्देया नरैरियम् 4.2.77.
Those who wish to go to Kedara should have this resolve in their minds.
चैत्रकृष्णचतुर्दश्यामुपवासं विधाय च
On the fourteenth day of the dark half of Caitra, after observing a fast,
केदारोदकपानेन यथा तत्र फलं भवेत्
By drinking the water of Kedara, one obtains the fruit that is promised there.
केदारभक्तं संपूज्य वासोन्नद्रविणादिभिः
By honoring the devotee of Kedara with garments, food, wealth, and the like,
आषण्मासं त्रिकालं यः केदारेशं नमस्यति
Whoever worships Kedaresha three times a day for six months,
कलौ केदारमाहात्म्यं योपि कोपि न वेत्स्यति
In the Kali age, whoever, of any kind, does not know the greatness of Kedara,
केदारेशं सकृद्दृष्ट्वा देवि मेऽनुचरो भवेत्
O Devi, by seeing Kedaresha even once, one becomes my attendant.
चित्रांगदेश्वरं लिंगं केदारादुत्तरे शुभम्
The auspicious Citrāṅgadeśvara liṅga is situated to the north of Kedāra.
केदाराद्दक्षिणे भागे नीलकंठ विलोकनात्
To the south of Kedāra, by beholding Nīlakaṇṭha, one attains merit.
तद्वायव्यंबरीषेशो नरस्तदवलोकनात्
To the northwest, the lord of Barīṣa; a person, by seeing him, gains blessings.
इंद्रद्युम्नेश्वरं लिंगं तत्समीपे समर्च्य च 4.2.77.
Near that place, worshipping the liṅga of Indradyumneśvara brings merit.
तद्दक्षिणे नरो दृष्ट्वा लिंगं कालंजरेश्वरम्
To its south, a person who beholds the liṅga of Kālaṃjareśvara attains virtue.
दृष्ट्वा क्षेमेश्वरं लिंगमुद्क्चित्रांगदेश्वरात्
Having seen the liṅga of Kṣemeśvara, one gains blessings from Citrāṅgadeśvara.
