गंधाद्यैर्विविधैर्माल्यैः पंचामृतपुरःसरैः 4.2.75.
With various fragrances, garlands, and foremost among them the five nectars,
पूजोपकरणैर्द्रव्यैर्घंटादर्पणचामरैः
With articles and substances for worship, bells, mirrors, and fans,
जपैः प्रदक्षिणाभिश्च नमस्कारैर्मुदायुतैः
With recitations, circumambulations, and salutations filled with joy,
ब्राह्मणान्वाचयेत्पश्चान्निष्पापोहमिति ब्रुवन्
Afterwards, he should have the Brahmins recite, saying, 'I am purified from sin.'
ततः पंचनदे स्नात्वा मणिकर्णी ह्रदे ततः
Then, after bathing in the five rivers, in the lake of Manikarnika,
प्रायश्चित्तमिदं प्रोक्तं महापापविशोधनम्
This atonement has been declared, the purifier of great sins.
क्षमां प्रदक्षिणीकृन्य यत्फलं सम्यगाप्यते
The full merit obtained by circumambulating the earth is indeed gained.
भुजंगमेखलं लिंगं काश्यां दृष्ट्वा त्रिविष्टपम्
Seeing the linga adorned with a serpent-girdle at Kashi, one attains heaven.
अन्यत्र सर्वलिंगेषु पुण्यकालो विशिष्यते
Elsewhere, among all lingas, the auspicious time is considered superior.
लिंगान्योंकारमुख्यानि सर्वपापप्रकृंत्यलम् 4.2.75.
The lingas, with Om as their foremost, are entirely capable of removing all sins by their very nature.
यतः सर्वेषु लिंगेषु लिंगमेतदनुत्तमम्
Among all lingas, this linga is the most excellent.
पुरा मे योगयुक्तस्य लिंगमेतद्भुवस्तलात्
Long ago, when I was engaged in yoga, this linga arose from the surface of the earth.
अस्मिँल्लिगे पुरा गौरि सुगुप्तं तिष्ठता मया
Formerly, O Gauri, I remained well concealed within this linga.
त्रिलोचनस्य ये भक्तास्तेपि सर्वे त्रिलोचनाः
All those who are devotees of the Three-eyed One also become like the Three-eyed One.
त्रिलोचनस्य लिंगस्य महिमानं न कश्चन
No one can fully comprehend the greatness of the linga of the Three-eyed One.
शुक्लराधतृतीयायां स्नात्वा पैलिपिले ह्रदे
On the third day of the bright fortnight, after bathing in the Pailipila lake,
त्रिलोचनं पूजयित्वा प्रातः स्नात्वापि तत्र वै
Having worshipped the Three-eyed One and bathed there in the morning,
सान्नान्सदक्षिणान्देवि पितॄनुद्दिश्य हर्षिताः
Offering food and gifts to the ancestors with joy,
विसृज्य पार्थिवं देहं तेन पुण्येन नोदिताः 4.2.75.
Casting off the earthly body, they ascend by that merit.
तावद्धमंति संसारे देवा मर्त्या महोरगाः
For that long, gods, mortals, and great serpents remain in the cycle of existence.
सकृत्त्रिविष्टपं दृष्ट्वा स्नात्वा पैलिपिले ह्रदे
Having seen Trivishtapa even once and bathed in the Pailipila lake,
प्रतिमासं सदाष्टम्यां चतुर्दश्यां च भामिनि
Every month, on the eighth and fourteenth days, O beautiful one,
त्रिविष्टपाद्दक्षिणतः स्नातः पैलिपिलेंऽभसि
Having bathed to the south of Trivishtapa in the waters of Pailipila,
पादोदकाख्यस्तत्रैव कूपः पापविनाशकः
There itself is a well called 'Pādodaka,' destroyer of sins.
तस्य लिंगस्य पार्श्वे तु संति लिंगान्यनेकशः
Beside that liṅga, there are many other liṅgas.
तत्र शांतनवं लिंगं गंगातीरे प्रतिष्ठितम्
There, the Śāṃtanava liṅga is established on the bank of the Gaṅgā.
तद्दक्षिणे महालिंगं मुने भीष्मेश संज्ञितम्
To its south, O sage, is the great liṅga called Bhīṣmeśa.
तत्प्रतीच्यां महालिंगं द्रोणेश इति कीर्तितम्
To its west is the great liṅga known as Droṇeśa.
अश्वत्थामेश्वरं लिंगं तदग्रे चातिपुण्यदम् 4.2.75.
In front of that, the liṅga of Aśvatthāmeśvara is found, bestowing great merit.
द्रोणेशाद्वायु दिग्भागे वालखिल्येश्वरं परम्
From Droṇeśa, in the direction of the wind, is the supreme Vālakhilyeśvara.
