The entire earth was adorned with heaps of countless jewels.
The directions shone with golden pots of various kinds atop mansions.
Even the wondrous palace for the play of the eight great siddhis.
Thus, seeing the prosperity of Kashi, he became utterly ashamed.
In palaces, avenues, ramparts, and houses,
The radiant brilliance of gems, jewels, and precious stones shone forth.
I understand that the space between heaven and earth is just so.
Even in Vaikuntha's realm, there is no comparison; what then of other places here?
Meanwhile, a certain ascetic came into their sight.
Tell us, O traveler, what new and unheard-of thing has happened before you?
Where is the presiding lord now, and what has the presiding lord done?
That ascetic then replied to the words of the king of mountains.
O bestower of honor, five or six days have now passed.
The Lord of the Universe, the mountain king, and the devoted son have all arrived together.
He who is the presiding lord of the universe, that all-pervading lord, is present here.
I think you are stone in form, and even as stone, you are hard-hearted.
Even though his nature is hard, still, Himavat the mountain is the best.
Bearing innate hardness, he was born as the great teacher, the father of Gauri.
Who knows the actions of him whose deeds are known through the Vedas and who is the master of the Vedas?
The presiding lord has been revealed by me, and so too his actions as presiding lord.
At present, that Lord of Uma is in the auspicious place of Jyeṣṭheśvara.
When the king of mountains reveals himself to the traveler, he rejoices at that very moment.
By whom the nectar of Uma's name has been drunk here on the earth.
He who constantly remembers the two-syllabled mantra 'Uma' day and night—
Again Himavat, delighted, heard what the ascetic said. The ascetic spoke: O King, a temple for Viśveśvara is being constructed by Viśvakarman,
It is being built with excellent craftsmanship for the birth of the giver of liberation.
Where the friends of the sun's radiance, with rods, are arranged all around,
Where there are a hundred pillars, shining, numbering one hundred and twelve,
And the splendor that is found in the fourteen worlds, all around,
And the foundation stones of the pillars are of moonstone,
