अथ नंदिनमाहूय धूर्जटिः स कृपानिधिः
Then Dhūrjaṭi, the ocean of compassion, summoned Nandin.
तदंतरेस्ति मे भक्तो जैगीषव्यस्तपोधनः
Within that interval, I have a devotee, Jaigīṣavya, rich in austerity.
महानियमवान्नंदिस्त्वगस्थिस्नायु शेषितः
Nandin, possessing great discipline, remains with only skin, bones, and sinews.
यदाप्रभृत्यगां काश्या मंदरं सर्वसुंदरम्
From that time onward, Kāśī became Mandara, supremely beautiful in every way.
गृहाण लीलाकमलमिदं पीयूषपोषणम्
Take this playful lotus, nourished by nectar.
ततो नंदी समादाय तल्लीलाकमलं विभोः
Then Nandin, having taken that playful lotus of the Lord,
नंदी दृष्ट्वाथ तं तत्र धारणादृढमानसम्
Nandin, seeing him there, with steadfast mind due to concentration,
तपांते वृष्टिसंयोगाच्छालूर इव कोटरे
At the end of his austerities, from the union with rain, like a shālūra tree in a hollow,
अथ नंदी समादाय सत्वरं मुनिपुंगवम्
Then Nandin, quickly taking the foremost sage,
जैगीषव्योथ संभ्रांतः पुरतो वीक्ष्य शंकरम् 4.2.63.
Jaigīṣavya, agitated, saw Śaṃkara before him.
प्रणम्य दंडवद्भूमौ परिलुठ्य समंततः
He bowed, prostrating himself on the ground, rolling about in all directions.
जगदानंदकंदाय परमानंदहेतवे
For the delight of the world, for the cause of supreme bliss.
अरूपाय सरूपाय नानारूपधराय च
Salutations to the one without form, to the one with form, and to the one who assumes many forms.
स्थावराय नमस्तुभ्यं जंगमाय नमोस्तुते
Salutations to you who are immovable, salutations to you who are moving.
नमस्त्रैलोक्यकाम्याय कामांगदहनाय च
Salutations to the one desired by the three worlds, and to the one who burns away the gifts of desire.
श्रीकंठाय नमस्तुभ्यं विषकंठाय ते नमः
Salutations to you, O Śrīkaṇṭha; salutations to you, O poison-throated one.
नमः शक्त्यर्धदेहाय विदेहाय सुदेहिने
Salutations to the one whose body is half Śakti, to the bodiless one, and to the one with a beautiful body.
कालाय कालकालाय कालकूट विषादिने
Salutations to Time, to the destroyer of Time, and to the one who holds the poison Kālakūṭa.
नमस्ते खंडपरशो नमः खंडें दुधारिणे
Salutations to you who wield the broken axe; salutations to you who hold the broken staff.
गीर्वाणगीतनाथाय गंगाकल्लोलमालिने ।। 4.2.63.
Salutations to the lord of the songs of the celestials, to the one adorned with the waves of the Ganges.
चंद्रार्धशुद्धभूषाय चंद्रसूर्याग्निचक्षुषे
Salutations to the one adorned with the pure crescent moon, whose eyes are the moon, sun, and fire.
जगदीशाय जीर्णाय जराजन्महराय ते
Salutations to the lord of the universe, to the aged one, and to you who remove old age and birth.
नमो डमरुहस्ताय धनुर्हस्ताय ते नमः
Salutations to you who hold the drum; salutations to you who hold the bow.
त्रिशूलव्यग्रहस्ताय नमस्त्रिपथगाधर
Salutations to you whose hand is busy with the trident; salutations to you, bearer of the triple-flowing river.
त्रयीमयाय तुष्टाय भक्ततुष्टिप्रदाय च
Salutations to you who are composed of the three Vedas, who are satisfied, and who grant satisfaction to devotees.
दारिताशेषपापाय नमस्ते दीर्घदर्शिने
Salutations to you who have destroyed all sins; salutations to you, the far-seeing one.
दोषाकर कलाधार त्यक्तदोषागमाय च
Salutations to the maker of faults, the holder of arts, and to the one who has abandoned the arrival of faults.
नमो धीराय धर्माय धर्मपालाय ते नमः
Salutations to you who are steadfast, who are righteousness, and who are the protector of righteousness.
नाममात्रस्मृतिकृतां त्रैलोक्यैश्वर्यपूरक
You fulfill the sovereignty of the three worlds for those who remember your name alone.
पशुपाशविमोक्षाय पशूनां पतये नमः 4.2.63.
Salutations to you who release from the bonds of creatures; salutations to the lord of all beings.
