साप्याह पितरं त्रस्ता स्वशिलात्वस्य कारणम्

Purification is declared by drinking with the five blades of sacred grass.

श्वेतद्वीपेपि सामग्री क्व गुणानां गरीयसी
Even in Śvetadvīpa, where is the greater abundance of virtues?
मुदे कौमोदकी स्पर्शस्तथा न मम जायते
Even the touch of the Kaumodakī club does not bring me joy.
न क्षीरनीरधिजया सुखं मे श्लिष्टगात्रया 4.2.60.
Nor does happiness come to me from union with the one born from the ocean of milk.
इत्थं पंचनदे तीर्थे क्षीरनीरधिजाधवः
Thus, at the ford of the five rivers, Mādhava, born from the ocean of milk,
आनंदकाननभवं दिवोदास क्षमापतेः
Divodāsa, born in the forest of bliss, lord of the earth.
सुखोपविष्टः संहृष्टः सुदृष्टिर्विष्टरश्रवाः
Seated comfortably, delighted, with clear sight and attentive hearing.
स ऋषिस्तं समभ्येत्य पुंडरीकाक्षमच्युतम्
That sage approached the lotus-eyed, imperishable one.
शंखपद्मगदाचक्र चंचत्करचतुष्टयम्
With four hands holding conch, lotus, mace, and discus.
सुनीलेंदीवररुचिं सुस्निग्ध मधुराकृतिम्
With the radiance of a deep blue lotus, gentle and sweet in form.
दाडिमीबीजदशनं किरीटद्योतितांबरम्
With teeth like pomegranate seeds, garments shining beneath a crown.
दिव्यर्षिभिर्नारदाद्यैः परिगीतमहोदयम्
Whose greatness was sung by divine sages like Nārada.
धृतशार्ङ्गधनुर्दंडं दंडिताखिलदानवम्
Holding the Śārṅga bow and staff, subduer of all demons.
कैवल्यं यत्परं ब्रह्म निराकारमगोचरम् 4.2.60.
The supreme Brahman, absolute liberation, formless and beyond perception.
वेदाविदुर्यदाकारं नैवोपनिषदोदितम्
That which the Vedas do not describe, nor is spoken of in the Upaniṣads.
