निर्वाणलक्ष्मीं ये पुण्याः परिवांछंति लीलया
Those virtuous ones who, with ease, desire the fortune of liberation—
ममानंदवने ये वै निरं तर वनौकसः
Those who dwell in my blissful grove, free from obstacles—
निर्ममं चापि निर्मोहं या मामपि विमोहयेत् ।। 4.2.55.
And she who is free from possessiveness and delusion, who could even bewilder me.
नामापि मधुरं यस्याः परानंदप्रकाशकम्
Even her name is sweet, revealing supreme bliss.
काशीनामसुधापानं ये कुर्वंति निरंतरम्
Those who constantly partake of the nectar of Kāśī's name—
ममतारहितस्यापि मम सर्वात्मनो ध्रुवम्
Even for one devoid of possessiveness, she is certainly my all-pervading essence.
रहस्यमिति विज्ञाय वाराणस्या गणेश्वरैः
Understanding this secret, the lords of Gaṇas in Vārāṇasī—
अन्यथा ताश्च योगिन्यः सरविः सपितामहः
Otherwise, those yoginīs, along with Sarasvatī and the ancestors—
अतीव भद्रं संजातं काश्यां तिष्ठत्सु तेषु हि
Great auspiciousness arises when they remain in Kāśī.
लब्धप्रवेशास्तावंतस्ते सर्वे मत्स्वरूपिणः
All those who have gained entry there become of my own form.
अन्यानपि प्रेषयामि मत्पार्श्वपरिवर्तिनः
I send others also, who revolve around my side.
विचार्येति महादेवः समाहूय गजाननम्
Thus, Mahādeva, having summoned Gajānana, deliberated.
तत्रस्थितोपि संसिद्धयै यतस्व सहितो गणैः 4.2.55.
Even while remaining there, strive for perfection together with the Gaṇas.
आधाय शासनं मूर्ध्नि गणाधीशोथ धूर्जटेः
The lord of Gaṇas then placed the command of Dhūrjaṭi upon his head.
शंभोः काश्यागमोपायं चिंतयन्मंदराद्रितः
Thinking of Śambhu's method for entering Kāśī, from Mount Mandara—
प्राप्य वाराणसीं तूर्णमाशु स्यंदनगो विभुः
The mighty one swiftly reached Vārāṇasī, riding his chariot.
नक्षत्रपाठको भूत्वा वृद्धः प्रत्यवरोधगः
Having become an old man, a reciter of the stars, he was confined within the inner quarters.
स्वयमेव निशाभागे स्वप्नं संदर्शयन्नृणाम्
He himself, in the portion of the night, shows dreams to people.
भवद्भिरद्य रात्रौ यद्दृष्टं स्वप्नविचेष्टितम्
Whatever dream activities you saw tonight while sleeping,
स्वपता भवता रात्रौ तुर्ये यामे महाह्रदः
While you were sleeping at night, in the fourth watch, there was a great lake.
तदंबुपिच्छिले पंके मग्नोन्मग्नोसि भूरिशः
There, in the muddy, slippery water, you were repeatedly submerged and emerged.
काषायवसनो मुंडः प्रैक्ष्यहो भवतापि यः
Wearing ochre garments, shaven-headed, you also saw someone.
रात्रौ सूर्यग्रहो दृष्टो महानिष्टकरो ध्रुवम्
At night, you saw a solar eclipse, which certainly brings great misfortune.
प्रतीच्यां रविरागत्य प्रोद्यंतं व्योम्नि शीतगुम् 4.2.56.
The sun, coming from the west, was rising in the sky, emitting cold.
युगपत्केतुयुगलं युध्यमानं परस्परम्
At the same time, you saw a pair of comets fighting each other.
विशीर्यत्केशदशनं नीयमानं च दक्षिणे
With hair and teeth falling out, being led to the south.
प्रासादध्वजभंगोयस्त्वयैक्षत निशाक्षये
The breaking of the palace banner, which you saw at the end of the night.
नगरी प्लाविता स्वप्ने तरंगैः क्षीरनीरधेः
The city was flooded in a dream by waves of a milk-white cloud.
स्वप्ने वानरयानेन यत्त्वमूढोसि दक्षिणाम्
In a dream, you became bewildered, going southward in a monkey-drawn chariot.
रुदती या त्वया दृष्टा महिलैका निशात्यये
The woman you saw weeping at the end of the night.
