Having seen the supreme liṅga called Somānandīśvara in the Nandavana,
Then, to the north of that, a man beholds the liṅga of Nandiṣeṇa.
The great liṅga Kāleśvara is to the northwest of the Gaṅgā.
Worshipping Piṅgaleśvara, a little to the north of Kāleśvara,
Wherever they offer devotion to the liṅga of Kukkutāśvara,
Having reached the grove of bliss, while they stood, Sthāṇu spoke.
If this matter is rightly considered, it is indeed our own task.
Even when the Pramathas, mighty in magical power, had entered,
In due order I shall send forth whoever is among my own attendants.
Having thus resolved in his heart, the god of gods, the wielder of the trident,
Kuṇḍodara, called Mayūra, Bāṇa, and also Gokarṇa—
Though they employed a hundred strategies in Divodāsa’s confusion, not one was able, so they remained there.
By what action is the Lord pleased, when there are a hundred offenses?
When even one liṅga of Śambhu is worshipped here according to the rite,
Śambhu is not so pleased by sacrifices, gifts, austerities, or vows.
He who knows the method of liṅga worship and is always devoted to it—
Not by giving away a hundred cows, nor by giving a hundred pieces of gold,
Nor is that fruit attained by sacrifices such as the Aśvamedha and others.
Whoever, according to the proper rite, bathes the liṅga with water for its ablution,
Whoever performs the anointing on the head with the water used for bathing the liṅga,
Whoever, seeing the liṅga duly worshipped, offers even a single obeisance,
Whoever installs the liṅga with devotion is freed from sins accumulated over seven births.
Thus, considering with the Gaṇas in Kāśī, for the pacification of betrayal against the Lord,
Seeing the liṅga of Kuṇḍodareśvara in the presence of the restless sun,
From the liṅga of Kuṇḍodareśvara, to the west, at the top of the head,
And to the west of Mayūreśa, the great liṅga called Bāṇeśvara,
The great liṅga Gokarṇeśa is within the house, to the west.
For the devotee of Gokarṇeśvara, at the time of death,
Its greatness and majesty were described as belonging to Kāśī.
By the Māyā of Viṣṇu, the whole universe is made to revolve here by which all is moved.
