Keśava, moving in the sky with his seven horses,
As if out of curiosity, crossing over, Hari entered the Sun.
Waiting for the right moment, desiring to ask Hari something,
Hari graciously said, 'Welcome to you,' with great respect.
Then, seeing the opportunity, the eye of the world addressed the transcendent one.
O Mādhava, is there anyone here more worthy of worship than you, who is worshipped by the world?
From you this all arises, and in you everything dissolves.
Beholding this wonder, I have come here into your presence.
Having heard thus what the thousand-rayed one spoke, Hṛṣīkeśa—
Here, only one is truly worthy of worship—the cause of all causes.
Here, one of little understanding worships someone other than the Three-Eyed One.
The sole worthy of worship is the Conqueror of Death, who removes birth, death, and old age.
By worshipping the Death of Time, Bhringi overcame Time itself.
He who effortlessly destroyed Tripura with a single arrow was victorious.
The supreme cause of victory over the three worlds is the worship of the Three-Eyed One.
By the mere contraction of whose eyelids, this world contracts.
By properly worshipping the liṅga of Śambhu, one attains the four aims of human life.
Even merit accumulated over hundreds of births is surpassed by worshipping the Śaiva liṅga.
What indeed is not possible here through the worship of the Śiva liṅga?
I, Sahasragu, have obtained the wealth and sovereignty of the three worlds by this means.
This alone is the supreme yoga; this alone is the highest austerity.
Those who have even once worshipped the liṅga of the Lord of Pārvatī—
Whoever, abandoning everything, has taken refuge in the liṅga of the Sun—
For them alone, O Bhāskara, is there growth through the worship of the liṅga.
There is no other merit in the three worlds equal to the worship of the liṅga.
Therefore, you too, O Arka, worship the liṅga of the Great Lord.
Having heard these words of Hari, Sahasragu from that time—
Recognized Vivasvān as his teacher, beginning with Keśava.
Therefore, that Keśava Āditya in Kāśī dispels the darkness of devotion.
Whoever, O best of men, worships Keśava Āditya at Vārāṇasī—
