And whatever other sins there are, great or small—
None of these sins have been knowingly committed by me.
For the one by whom righteousness is protected, whether in body or in swift movement—
If it is desired that protection be given, how could it be by the enemy of desire?
Some have declared that, above all, wealth must be protected.
But righteousness is protected by all, even at the cost of the body.
Indeed, this alone is the righteousness that arises from serving Kāśī.
Who, having attained Kāśī—so difficult to reach—would ever abandon it, if conscious?
Whoever leaves Vārāṇasī and wishes to go elsewhere—
For the sake of sons, friends, wives, lands, or wealth—
He who has obtained the city of Kāśī, capable of rescuing the three worlds—
Even if Rudra is angered at me, he will only diminish my brilliance.
Other powers here shine only for as long as—
Thus, knowing the glory of Kāśī, the remover of the world’s darkness, the eye of the universe—
Lolārka, Uttarārka, and also Sāmbāditya—
Khakholka, Āruṇāditya, and the two known as Vṛddha and Keśava—
And the twelfth, Yamāditya, who arose from a pot in Kāśī city.
Of that Sun, whose mind was restless, when he appeared in Kāśī—
Lolārka stands at the meeting of the swords, situated in the southern direction.
On the seventh or sixth day of the bright half of Mārgaśīrṣa, on a Sunday—
Whatever sins have been committed by men over the course of a year—
A man, after bathing at the meeting of the swords and offering libations to ancestors and deities—
Having bathed at the confluence of Lolārka, giving gifts, performing oblations, and worshipping the gods—
At the eclipse of the Sun at Lolārka, acts such as bathing and giving gifts—
Bathing at Lolārka on the Rathasaptamī, at the confluence of the Gaṅgā and the swords—
Whoever, observing pure vows, beholds Lolārka on every Sunday—
For him there is no suffering, nor skin disease, nor leprosy, nor eczema.
Even one who dwells in Vārāṇasī but does not serve Lolārka—
Among all the sacred places of Kāśī, Lolārka is foremost.
All other sacred places, even those encircling the earth—
